FAR RIGHT KOOK WAYNE ALLARD (R-CO) WILL NOT RUN IN 2008

>

Last week I pointed out that Colorado right wing imbecile, Wayne Allard, would be the most likely Senate incumbent to be forced into retirement. Apparently he's decided not to face the voters again and he will be announcing his retirement tomorrow. In a Colorado turning bluer by the day, Allard boasts the 7th most reactionary voting record in the entire Senate, barely beating out loons like James Inhofe (OK), Trent Lott (KKK), Jon Kyle (AZ), Jim Bunning, (RIP) John Cornyn (TX) and Larry Craig (Aryan Nations). His recent pro-escalation mutterings were a tip off to most observers that he didn't intend to run again.

No one expected he could beat popular Colorado congressman Mark Udall, the Democratic candidate. The Republicans will probably have a bitter and bloody but pointless primary featuring a cast of far right kooks and nuts. Among those most interested are ex-Reps Scott McInnis and Bob Schaffer, and possibly anti-immigrant poster monster Tom Tancredo (unless he's serious about a quixotic run for the presidency).

UPDATE: ALLARD SAYS HE'LL HONOR HIS TERM LIMITS PLEDGE. WILL SUSAN COLLINS?

Allard, whose extremist politics and clownish behavior made it fairly certain that he wasn't about to be re-elected in any case, announced today that his pledge to only serve two terms would be honored. Many Republicans took that pledge when they first ran. Very few have honored it. Susan Collins was first elected at the same time Allard was and she made the same pledge. Of all the senators up for re-election in 2008, Allard has the lowest approval rating-- and Collins has the highest. Does anyone think she'll honor her pledge? Does anyone think Allard would have if Colorado voters approved of him?

Even better, maybe Collins could convert from the Dark Side today. That way Holy Joe could sink into well deserved irrelevancy.

"The Aryan Nations have a gay auxilliary?"

I imagine that some of them must be nostalgic for those great parties Ernst Röhm used to through for the boys.

She'll definately be running in 2008. She's already made it pretty clear. She believes she can get a lot more done now that she's in the majority.

Totally Unfair!
While some of the other hyper-reactionary Assholes get creative parentheticals, such as (KKK) and (Aryan Nations), Cornyn rates only (Texas).
Is that a (not so) subtle slam????
This Wad is vulnerable.
Please be more creative, and stop treating Texans as a default category of lunatic fringe nuts.
