INDIANA AND KENTUCKY EARLY RESULTS-- I'LL KEEP UPDATING THIS PAGE

>

Polls are closed in both states and counting has commenced. In KY-03 (Louisville) it's neck and neck between John Yarmuth and Anne Northup-- 64% of votes counted and progressive Democrat Yarmuth is up by about 1% over the rubber stamp.

Indiana results are starting to trickle in but the only district with anything significant is "the bloody 8th," where Sherrif Brad Ellsworth has started off with a healthy lead over incumbent wing-nut John Hostettler. With 14% of precincts reporting, Brad's got 70% of the vote.

5 PM UPDATE: YARMUTH LOOKS LIKE HE'S BEATING NORTHUP; DEMS AHEAD IN INDIANA

With 78.4% of precincts counted, Yarmuth continues to lead Northup. He's got 94,401 (50.4%) votes to her 90,691 (48.4%).

With 10% of the precincts counted in KY-02 Weaver and Lewis are within 90 votes of eachother!

Indiana is starting to have some significant returns now too. Donnelly has pulled ahead of Chocola 59% to 41% with 26% of precincts counted. Hayhurst will be giving Souder a run for his money in the 3rd, although with only 18% of votes counted it's too early to say what the final result will be. This is a real longshot for a Democrat and Hayhurst is less than 2,000 votes behind. And in the "bloody 8th" Ellsworth continues to trounce Hostettler: 34% of precinct reporting and Ellsworth has 62% of the vote. 24% of the precincts are counted in IN-09 and former Congressman Baron Hill has a 2% lead over whacky wing-nut Mike Sodrel.

UPDATE: HAVE YOU HAD ENOUGH WINS A GRAMMY

Oh, it wasn't a Grammy. Salon says it was the #2 political video after the Michael J Fox stem cell one. Coolio! May I recommend, in light of the victory building in KY-03, that you watch the one Mike did for John Yarmuth (81% of precincts counted and Yarmuth holds a 50.3- 48.5% lead over Northup). Their review: "This great ad, which uses the Squirrel Nut Zippers' "Have You Had Enough?" and a charming Rickie Lee Jones vocal, has been recut and reused in about 18 Democratic races across the country (here, in John Laesch's unlikely effort against House Speaker Dennis Hastert). It's catchy retro stylings made voting against the GOP House seem not only fun but incredibly cool."
