Quote of the day: Man, is "Planet Denny" on the warpath against doers of, er, bad stuff, or what? (Plus, pencils ready, it's a QOTD News Quiz)

>

"In 20/20 hindsight, probably you could do everything a little bit better. But if there is a problem, if there was a cover-up, then we should find that out through the investigation process. They'll be under oath and we'll find out. If they did cover something up, then they should not continue to have their jobs. But I didn't think anybody at any time in my office did anything wrong.''
--House Speaker "Planet Denny" Hastert, seen above tellin' it like it is to reporters in Aurora, Ill., just awhile ago

WASHINGTON (AP) -- House Speaker Dennis Hastert said Tuesday he'll dismiss anyone on his staff found to have covered up concerns about ex-Rep. Mark Foley's approaches to former pages.

Hastert said he huddled with his staff members last week and he believes they acted appropriately in handling information on Foley's conduct. But he also issued them a stern warning: ''If they did cover something up, then they should not continue to have their jobs.''

The FBI is conducting a criminal investigation and the House ethics committee is investigating any potential violations of standards of conduct. . . .

AND NOW, PENCILS READY, IT'S A QOTD NEWS QUIZ

"Planet Denny" Hastert is:

(a) some kind of leader, man

(b) a stooge of former Rep. Tom DeLay who somehow or other became speaker of the House

(c) a crook

(d) the world's second-largest land mass (after Asia)

(e) all of the above

QUIZ ANSWER (Hey, no peeking! What are you, a Republican?)

The answer of course is (e) all of the above.

In the event that you're not up on (c) a crook, let thinkprogress.org walk you through the timeline of How Hastert Used Tax Dollars to Turn a $1.5 Million Profit.

In the quote Hastert is saying they not we. When they are questioned they will be under oath. Is this a freudian slip? Does he intend to cooperate with the investigation or is he going to refuse to answer questions? Sometimes they tell us stuff even when they don't mean too.

Oh, uh, I think the answer is D, man.

Oh no, not another one! Can't we trade him to, like, the Lutherans for "future considerations"?

Hastert acts like he has not a clue. What reporters need to do is cut through his "bluff of stupidity" and ask him WHY did Republican's protect Foley?? As the overwhelming invidence made public now, says they did.

Why was it so important for Republican's to protect Foley ?? What was Foley's role in creating the ballot fiasco in Palm Beach that got Bush and his gang into the Whitehouse that gave Foley such power over right and wrong?

The Foley story has to stay front and center as there is alot more to it then he just being a sexual predator. The Foley story is also the way to get through to the republican brain of hate. Logic and reason cannot as The Republican’s can only get excited about “sex” news.

The Republican's trained the American People in this, while they kept our country hostage for YEARS via the air waves and newsprint indulging in their fantasy’s about Bill Clinton’s sex life. The Republican’s even took Clinton’s lying (to protect to his family and himself over what was personal behavior) that he received a blow job from a seducing intern while the government Clinton had just been elected to run was shut down by Newt Gingrich and his Contract with America all the way to the Impeachment process…
Hoodwinking our country over nonsense for years..

While the Foley revelations might seem insignificant, It is really the tip of the iceberg of all the Republican lies; this administration’s way of life. It is the Foley story that can cause of domino effect of all the lies to be exposed as Foley’s story is hitting a nerve with what makes us American People decent people. We honor our children and our families. Foley pred on children and it was covered up by this Republican administration…

What every person should be asking themselves
IS WHY?????
Why would these men who are parent’s themselves ignore Foley’s behavior and enable him to have such power in the House???

Foley represent’s Palm Beach Fl. The place that was responsible for throwing the 2000 presidential election to George Bush Jr over the rightful winner, Gore. Foley had a huge hand in creating that and covering it up. This is the important story behind Foley being allowed to harm children.

Please all you worthy and intelligent people investigate Foley. AS this is where the source of Bush lies started. There in Palm Beach. Once the reason why these Republican Men covered up Foley’s behavior with children is exposed by going to the source of lies starting in Palm Beach. That is the loose thread that will unravel all the rest of Bush’s lies and deceit on this country very quickly.

Do not underestimate the American People to respond when a nerve in them is hit ( sex hits a nerve). Back in the early 1970’s the Republican administration and the Corporation's running this country ignored environmentalist saying they were producing gas guzzling cars.
The leaders of our country in govt and business liked the money they got from these big cars…
They said “American People will never buy cars from Japs”. Then the gas crisis happened.. Overnight the American People brought Japanese Cars in droves. Screw the American Leader’s they said… They failed us… We are buying the enemy’s (then) cars… and of course the rest is history....

It just takes one weak link to bring this whole sham of a administration down… It will implode on to it’s self as it is all built on lies.

Speaking as one of Denny's constituents, I must say I'm more than a little disappointed in him. I've always known that he's a little slow, but the Speaker of the House, in alliance with Delay, Abramoff and their minions, can only come away with one and a half million? We Prairie Staters expect something a little more on the grand scale.

Good point. Of course the $1.5M is just the one deal we know most about. But if that's the best your Denny can do, the rest probably doesn't add up to a hill of beans. (And we know what he's likely to do with a hill of beans.)

I suspect that this is why George Soros makes him so crazy. Here is your Denny, feeling that he's stealing as fast as he can, and what does he have to show for it? Peanuts. (And we know what he's likely to do with peanuts.)

I absolutely agree that you have a right to a more competent grifter representing your district. Or at least one who doesn't eat up all the profits.
