Quote of the day: In family values Entourage-style, even a budding Hollywood superstar-- and cinematic superhero-- gets advice from his mother
>
No, Quote of the Day is not being paid by HBO (though it's hard to know whether payments or other considerations would be accepted until something is offered). Nevertheless, for the second day in a row QOTD comes from an HBO offering, in this case the highly satisfying season premiere of Entourage, the fake reality show about the burgeoning acting career of Queens (New York) native Vincent Chase (Adrian Grenier).
The season-opening crisis was getting Vince a date for the megapremiere of Aquaman (in which, of course, he plays the title role). America's favorite agent, the relentless Ari Gold (Jeremy Piven), assures him that it will be "the biggest night of your life." Naturally Ari has a practical suggestion: "Come on, let's be classy. You've been banging every girl west of Sepulveda for the last six months. Just pick the one skank that's going to photograph well and be done with it—boom!"
"That does sound classy," says Eric, Vince's childhood friend and now manager (Kevin Connolly).
The episode, written by series creator Doug Ellin, has James Cameron reprising his role as himself (director of Aquaman), a spectacularly hilarious James Woods doing the psycho version of himself that most people probably think he actually is, and Mercedes Ruehl as Vince's mother, whom he tries to get to travel from Queens to L.A. to be his date even though he knows she hasn't left New York in 30 years.
Vince actually persuades her, but when she's unable to force herself to get on the plane, it's Eric she phones. E says he'll put Vince on.
"No, don't, please," Mrs. Chase says. "I just can't have him guilt-tripping me about this right now. Tell him I love him. Tell him I miss him. Tell him to wear a suit."

Glad somebody enjoyed the Entourage opener as much as I did!
And always a pleasure to see Mercedes Ruehl, though a shame she is only allowed to play "supportive moms" anymore. Make that HOT supportive moms.
