LATEST REPUBLICAN SCANDAL: GOSS SUMMARILY FIRED-- BRIBES? YES. HOOKERGATE? YES. BUT EVEN WORSE THAN A DEAD GIRL OR A LIVE BOY?

A lot of people in NY think of the NY DAILY NEWS as something to line the bottom of the bird cage with. But when it comes to D.C. access, neither the NY TIMES, the WASHINGTON POST, TIME or anyone has more going on that the DAILY NEWS Washington Bureau. So even if you feel the urge to wrap a fish when you see it, when they gave a scoop about goings and comings in DC, it's worth paying attention. And this morning Richard Sisk and Jim Meek flat out claim they know why Goss' went down-- "Tied To Contractor's Poker Parties-- Hints of Bribes & Women."

I'll get to the hookers in a moment, since many other sources are claiming that at least some weren't female hookers. But first let me give you a brief synopsis of the NEWS' contention that it wasn't his incompetence that cooked Goss' goose but HookerGate. First off, Bush doesn't fire people for incompetence since that could open the flood gates which could only stop at one place (where the buck stops). So far everyone's finger is pointing to the Republican hack political appointee who is #3 at the CIA, Kyle "Dusty" Foggo. Foggo is the CIA Executive Director who approves all the contracts and who is thought to have been the conduit between GOP defense contractors-- the bribers-- and GOP congressmen-- the bribees. The serious question of national security has been raised and even a Bush rubber-stamp congressman like Peter Hoekstra (R-MI) is tearing the hair out of his head. (This goes beyond Cunningham and puts the activities of several Republican congressmen in question far beyond a little nookie, particularly, Jerry Lewis, Katherine Harris, Bob Ney, John Doolittle, Duncan Hunter, Virgil Goode, Jr., Ken Calvert and for starters.)

The NEWS claims Foggo went to Brent Wilkes' "lavish weekly hospitality-suite parties at the Watergate and Westin Grand hotels but 'just for poker'" and many in DC claim that Goss, also a big poker player and someone who has always appreciated expensive gifts from lobbyists, went "occasionally." His close "friendship" with Wilkes, who has already pled guilty to bribing several Republican congressmen and to arranging whores for them, is no secret.

"'It's all about the Duke Cunningham scandal,' a senior law enforcement official told the Daily News in reference to Goss' resignation. Duke, a California Republican, was sentenced to more than eight years in prison after pleading guilty in November to taking $2.4 million in homes, yachts and other bribes in exchange for steering government contracts... One subject of the FBI investigation is a $3 million CIA contract that went to Wilkes to supply bottled water and other goods to CIA operatives in Iraq and Afghanistan, sources said.


And although Bush babbled uncomfortably that Goss "has led ably," Rove and the Regime's spokespeople are running all over town frantically telling anyone who would listen that he official Bush administration spin that "Goss lost out in a turf battle with Negroponte, but Goss' tenure was marked by the resignations of several veteran operatives who viewed him as an amateur out of his depth."

All that is easily observed. But what about the males prostitutes? Last December, as the Cunningham scandal seemed to be getting worse and worse, the fact that he had once admitted (to a personal friend of mine, by the way) that he is bisexual-- albeit a very confused and conflicted one, filled with narrow-minded bigotry and self-loathing), Chris Crain in the WASHINGTON BLADE blew Cunningham's cover (as a garden variety Republican homophobe) and exposed him as another in the Republican anti-gay congressional homosexual cabal (David Dreier, Mark Foley, Jim Kolbe, Steve Gunderson, Ed Schrock, Jim McCrery). So far Gannon/Guckert has nothing to say on the matter. I don't know any male escorts in DC. So I went online and found one. I was lucky. The guy I found, Jay, is brilliant, currently a law student in Washington and a graduate of the London School of Economics. I asked him to read the Daily Kos theory about how this may have been a gay hooker scandal. Here's Jay's perceptive assessment:

Homosexuality is still the single more frightening thing to a heterosexual male and even more frightening to a congressman playing one. This fear is exactly why it would be reasonable to conclude that the escorts in attendance at these prostitution parties were all sporting at least a decent B cup. I am not going to deny that there aren't any male escorts who have United States Congressmen on their client roster, but there is no way the Representative from Southern California is going to openly admit this in front of his colleagues; even if he is a fellow congressman from Florida.
 
Edwin Edwards used to say that "the only thing that will cost me the Governorship is if I am caught with in bed with a dead girl or a live boy” and it still pretty much holds truth, which is why no congressman is going to let himself be caught in bed with a boy, especially one supplied to him at a gathering hosted by the very companies attempting to use his influence for their gain. There is blackmail written all over such a situation.
 
When a congressman hires a male escort, or any closet man who stands to feel the world will disown him if he is caught sleeping with another guy, he does so in the privacy of his own hotel room. Hiring an escort would not be something a congressman would be willing to outsource. It is probably one of the few things for which he does his own research and doesn't go through his chief of staff to set the logistics. He would only trust himself with the task; if he didn't he would have much more to lose then the potential hookup with a hot young Georgetown guy.
