EVEN PEOPLE WHO DETEST RAHM EMANUEL ALMOST AS MUCH AS I DO ALWAYS SAY HE DOES A GREAT JOB. I DON'T GET THAT... AT ALL

>

Hotline On Call reported last night that Republican State Senator Peter Roskam will be endorsed by two key labor unions today, the Teamsters and the Operating Engineers, in his battle with Rahm Emanuel Tammy Duckworth to replace retiring Henry Hyde. Emanuel was able to push Christine Cegelis, the grassroots favorite, aside by injecting national figures (pawns like Kerry) and national cash into the primary and by convincing desperate unions too stupid to realize Emanuel is an enemy of workingmen (Illinois' state AFL-CIO, SEIU and AFSCME).

The Teamsters say they have a good working relationship with Rockam in the State Senate and maybe they're smart enough to know that another Emanuel pawn in the U.S. House is not necessarily a good thing for issues that are important to Labor. They also decided, properly, not to endorse CAFTA-supporter Melissa Bean, nominally a Democrat, in her re-election bid in a neighboring district (IL-08).

Yes, great job, Rahm.

My uncle and father (operating engineers) are both union members as was their father. I come from a long line of union, new deal Democrats. My uncle has a saying "if you are in a union and vote for a Republican you are crazy".

That pretty much sums it up.

A lot of us were brought up that way, Scott, and by and large it's still true about Republicans.

Unfortunately, there aren't a whole lot of New Deal Democrats anymore, and there's less and less reason for union supporters to vote for the Democrats we have.

Does anyone know how much Rahm Emanuel invested in the Tammy Duckworth campaign 2006?
