WEST PALM BEACH FOR NED LAMONT-- AND A NED LAMONT FILM

>

Adam and Sadie and Sophie (the Florida-based DWT Art Department) are all kvelling because their Ned Lamont image just showed up in a new-- a very cool-- little film clip that a Lamont supporter in Connecticut put together. It is particularly poignant for Sophie who was eager to vote for Gore and Lieberman in 2000 when she was so proud to have a Jewish person (like herself... actually like the whole Art Department, which is actually a Zohar study-group) to vote for. Adam was only 20 when he volunteered to drive people without transportation to the polls as part of a Get Out the Vote Operation in West Palm Beach. Sadie and Sophie share an apartment and Sadie's 1980 Buick (built the same year Adam was born) wasn't working. So Adam drove them to Temple Beth Israel to vote.

After they voted they asked Adam to stop "for a minute" at the Publix so they could buy a little food. He obliged and he wound up inviting them to join his Zohar study group. But late in the afternoon Sadie called Adam hysterically and demanded he take them back to Beth Israel so they could get their ballots back and do them over. They had turned on CNN and realized that Katherine Harris had tricked them into voting for Pat Buchanan-- "Is he really a Nazi, a real one?" they wanted to know-- instead of Gore and Lieberman. A lot of tears when Adam explained that all sales are final in the voting system.

In the course of Zohar study and things, Sadie and Sophie started working with Adam on the DWT art. (Sophie claims all the best ideas are hers and she did come up with the Lamont image Adam sent in.) They have become aware that Lieberman is a fake Democrat and that he is a die-hard Bush supporter, who Sadie and Sophie are both contemptuous of-- for a whole myriad of reasons. And now that Adam has taught them how to use a computer and they have discovered Google, they have also come to detest Lieberman as a traitor to the Democratic Party values they cherish. So... when they watched the little video clip, they were so happy that Sophie called her grandson the school teacher to tell him. He also distrusts Lieberman, not just because Lieberman's a war monger but because he (the grandson) was a huge Ice-T fan back in the day and was offended by Lieberman's ignorant attack on Ice-T's music. Sophie isn't an Ice-T fan ("too loud") but she believes in freedom of speech and she's happy about how Jonathan (the grandson) turned out.

Anyway, don't forget to watch the little film-- and to pick out Sophie's picture of Ned Lamont.
