I couldn't give much, but I loved imagining Francine Busby and the other DWT Act Blue candidates going to Congress

>

I was inspired by Howie's latest post about Francine Busby's campaign to replace "Duke" Cunningham in Congress, and maybe also by hearing Paul Hackett on the radio this morning talking to Rachel Maddow about his work supporting veterans running for political office. With the special election in Francine's district looming on April 11, I actually made a contribution—an embarrassingly small one—to Francine's campaign.

And I have to say it felt good wandering the halls of the DWT Act Blue page. There are some pretty encouraging candidates hanging on the walls there. (Of course to a DWT reader most of them already seem like old friends.) It was a kick imagining all of them defeating the agents of darkness they're running against—and paving the way for more candidates who aren't cut from the corporatist mold.

I could sure use some good, positive political news. It will be great news if the voters in Francine's California district send her to Washington. She can get to work there while we set about getting those other good people there to join her in the next Congress.

UPDATE: $10,000

Last night when I went to bed, the DWT ACT BLUE Page was registering 132 contributions totaling $9,940.06, split between the 9 candidates we have endorsed so far: Ciro Rodriguez (whose contest is today and, thanks to netroots contributors has been able to out-raise the big money interests' support of Bush's favorite House DINO, Henry Cuellar), Francine Busby, Ned Lamont, Ben Cardin, Lois Murphy, Christine Cegelis, Coleen Rowley, Dave Lutrin and Chuck Pennacchio. This morning donations from Ken as well as from Mary Ellen in D.C., Stephen in Little Rock, Saad in Ellicott City, MD, Edgar in NYC and John in Cottage Grove, OR put us over the $10,000 mark. Most of the contributions, by far, are from people who give $10 and $20, part of a genuine grassroots movement to combat the kinds of big money Republicans and corporate Democrats like Joe Lieberman and Henry Cuellar manage to gather from real Special Interests. I just want to take the opportunity to thank all the people who have contributed at DWT and to say CONGRATULATIONS! WE REALLY ARE GOING TO SAVE OUR COUNTRY FROM THE SCOURGE OF WEAK, CORRUPT REPUBLICANS !

Sorry, but I'm Blogpimping for Justice today: Chuck Pennacchio has a guest blog today at VichyDems -- link to his specific post here -- and I'd love to get that post some traffic, for Chuck's sake. Thanks!
