THE SORDID STORY OF BUSHCO CO-CONSPIRATOR AHMED CHALABI... SO FAR

>

Yesterday if you were watching corporate media you probably saw there was some kind of an ambiguous fuss about someone whose name may ring a faint bell in the back of your mind: Ahmed Chalabi. Either you already know all about this utterly contemptible Cheney-crony or you're wondering "Who dat?" Let me tell you about Ahmed. There's a lot of mystery surrounding Chalabi. And there are certain things that are very well known about him. Like Neil Bush, he swindled a bank-- one in Jordan, not Colorado, and only for $300 million, not a billion like Bush-- and like Neil he got off scott-free through Bush Family connections (American puppet "King" Abdullah pardoned him last May after some urging from the White House; Neil's father was the president of the U.S. and less urging was needed, although Neil did have to pay a $50,000 fine. Bad dog; be more careful next time!)

Anyway, Chalabi was born into one of the wealthiest families in Iraq, adept, as the rich and powerful tend to be under tyrannies, at turning political influence into economic gain and vice versa. When the Iraqi monarchy was overthrown in 1958 the Chalabi family moved to Lebanon where they forged alliances through marriages into important Shia families. Chalabi graduated from MIT in 1970 and started the Petra Bank in Jordan which became the second biggest bank in the country before he looted it (by "loaning" relatives and personally-owned companies large sums of money which were never repaid) and fled the country (hidden in the trunk of someone's car). In 1992, he was sentenced in absentia to 22 years in prison. He then went to work for the CIA, founding their "Iraqi National Congress" to oppose Saddam (from Europe). Then he moved to DC and inserted himself into American extreme right-wing politics and becoming a trusted darling on the whacky neo-Con movement. (Oh, and he was working for the Iranian secret service during all this too, passing fake info from Iran to willing dupes like Cheney about Iran's hated bitter enemy, Saddam and passing everything he could get from Cheney and Rumsfeld back to Iran.)

An investigation of Chalabi commenced in the U.S. about a year and a half ago when the CIA realized he had informed the Iranians that the U.S. had broken Iran's spy codes, super classified information he had gotten from his pals the neo-Cons. [Note to Fitzgerald: while looking into Cheney's role in TreasonGate, keep this part in mind too; it was a really big deal.]

You may have watched the next part of this live on CNN. U.S. occupation troops raided Chalabi's Baghdad home last May and accused him and his "security chief," Araz Habib, of being Iranian agents. They held a gun to his head; Chalabi kept screaming that the CIA was out to smear him. Condoleeza promised a criminal investigation, although she was lying and almost nothing has been done. After his falling out with the CIA and his neo-Con allies, Chalabi found some new friends-- radical Shia militia leader Muqtada al-Sadr. Somehow he manipulated himself into a leadership position in one of the main factions in the United Iraqi Alliance, the Shia coalition that won the January elections.

Yesterday, all looking very much forgiven, he was meeting with some of his old BushCo buds in DC-- including Condoleeza, thus far unindicted WHIG cabal member Stepehen Hadley, and Treasury Secretary Snow (I hope someone was watching that VERY VERY VERY carefully; if there's anything left there, it's ours!) This is... odd, considering that even if no one ever gets the hard proof that Chalabi was passing crucial U.S. secrets from Cheney's office to Iran, something that is very well known is that most of the completely discredited neo-Con case for invading Iraq that was repeated by Bush and the hapless Colin Powell was provided by Chalabi and his stooges in the Iraqi National Congress, particularly all the baseless lies about Saddam Hussein's weapons of mass destruction. (Iran wanted Saddam out of the way and Iraq rendered toothless and through their agent Chalabi, they got the idiot Bush to do it for them. In fact, he was in Tehran last week, just before flying over for his DC meetings with Condi and the rest.)

Today Think Progress has a revealing piece about Senators Leahy, Kennedy, and Durbin sending a letter to Attorney General Gonzales with some important questions about Ahmed Chalabi’s visit. The 3 crusading progressives are concerned that the Chalabi visit may be compromising the FBI investigation into his spy case. According to Think Progress these were the main points they made to Gonzalez:

1. In light of the ongoing FBI investigation, were you notified by the White House of Mr. Chalabi’s visit? Before his schedule was finalized, did you have an opportunity to advise the White House about whether it was appropriate for Mr. Chalabi to meet with Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, Treasury Secretary John Snow, and possibly with Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, National Security Advisor Stephen Hadley and Vice President Richard Cheney?
2. What steps, if any, have been taken to ensure that Mr. Chalabi’s meetings with senior administration officials do not compromise or prejudice the ongoing FBI investigation into allegations that Mr. Chalabi passed classified national security information to Iran?
3. Will the FBI interview Mr. Chalabi during his visit to the United States? If not, why not?
4. What is the current status of the FBI’s investigation into Mr. Chalabi’s conduct?

MONDAY EVENING NEO-CON TREASON UPDATE

According to an Associated Press report neo-Conservative conspirators, Cheney and Rumsfeld met secretly with Chalabi in Washington today.
Armed Pentagon guards kept all TV cameras and photo-journalists out of range of Chalabi's arrival at the Pentagon, and coverage of the talks was absolutely prohibited. According to the A.P. story "in the 45-minute Rumsfeld meeting, Chalabi stressed the importance of improving the intelligence-gathering capabilities of the U.S.-led military coalition to enhance the Iraqi security forces' ability to disrupt and ultimately defeat the insurgents, a Pentagon official said, speaking on condition of anonymity." Yeah, turning over more intelligence material to Chalabi sounds about what one would expect from these treasonous conspirators and vipers in the heart of the American government.

Chalibi saluted by this administration today. It's morally criminal.
