SURVIVAL OF THE RICHEST-- WHY GEORGE BUSH AND HIS REGIME MUST BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR CRIMES
>
Bob Schieffer ended his show (FACE THE NATION) today with a disturbing comment, a comment that goes directly to the heart of what is wrong with the Bush Regime and why they are absolute poison for America (and poison for the world).
"Finally, a personal thought. We have come through what may have been one of the worst weeks in America's history, a week in which government at every level failed the people it was created to serve. There is no purpose for government except to improve the lives of its citizens. Yet as scenes of horror that seemed to be coming from some Third World country flashed before us, official Washington was like a dog watching television. It saw the lights and images, but did not seem to comprehend their meaning or see any link to reality. As the floodwaters rose, local officials in New Orleans ordered the city evacuated. They might as well have told their citizens to fly to the moon. How do you evacuate when you don't have a car? No hint of intelligent design in any of this. This was just survival of the richest."
Bob Schieffer just summed up the entire philosophy of George Bush's GOP-- "survival of the richest." Why are all those people drowning and dying in New Orleans? Because THE REPUBLICAN PARTY BELIEVES THIS IS THE WAY GOVERNMENT SHOULD BE-- weak and ineffective. FEMA used to be a can-do operation. Now it is an ineffective sinecure to reward corrupt Bush campaign officials-- and from the GOP's point of view, the lamer and less competent, the better. The LAST thing any party of the Right wants is a strong government that can take the side of the weak and poor-- level the playing field a bit-- against the wealthy corporations, the wealthy corporations, it should be noted, that finance the careers of all these easily-corruptible politicians on both sides of the aisle.
