I always used to have ambivalent feelings about Dan Rather. Those feelings centered around what I saw as him being such a conservative corporate news guy, but, opinions can change, both his and mine. The tweet I'm using as tonight's meme may be the most astute thing I've ever heard from him. I love it for its facetiousness. The obvious answer just hangs there!
There were early reports that SeƱor Trumpanzee would welcome storm refugees from the Bahamas into our country. That apparently changed the second he saw all those people of color getting on that ferry headed for our shores. Oh to have a listening device in the oval office, the proverbial fly on the wall! I can just see Stephen Miller, or one of the other of Trump's fellow White House white supremacists, running into the oval office to make sure he saw. We can easily imagine Trump having an exploding freakout! That idea makes sense in the context of what Trump is. He probably always thought of the Bahamas as a kind of tropical Norway, full of nice, tidy white Brits walking around in white suits or white tennis outfits, off to the local courts for a deliciously uncoordinated game of tennis and some drinks with umbrellas in them. Then, he saw it: The Ferry Of Horror! He started spouting off about gangs and druggies, his main descriptives for "brown people."
Ironic isn't it, being as the White House is one big destructive gang. And, they probably all snort adderall and worse with him. I hope though that there's at least a couple who will stop him when he starts planning to invite all of the Republican Senators over for cross burnings on the White House lawn. They'll probably have to tackle him and take away his matches. Hmmm. What are the odds that that has already happened?

"...the White House is one big destructive gang..."
ReplyDeleteAnd they took over the (allegedly) most powerful nation on Earth without any response from the most expensive military that citizens' tax money can buy.
And in an orgy of destruction, they have wrecked all that they have touched so extensively that it will take decades to repair even if they weren't leaving behind a rear-guard of radical reactionary solons (of dubious quality) intended to interfere with the restoration.
And they have yet to involve us in too many wars for any nation to fight successfully. They need their Lebensraum after all, and the world can like it when they go take it.
And those who could have stopped it just stood and watched.
those who could have stopped it are the same who refuse to ever "repair" any of it.
ReplyDeleteIt won't take decades to repair. it won't be repaired at all. we're all facing the prospect of being cajoled into voting for biden. Pelosi and scummer are a given. nobody else has any relevance except for their numbers which give Pelosi and scummer despotic power over the agenda of their chamber.
and we already know that none of those will repair anything at all.
@5:36 am
ReplyDeleteDon't you ever get tired of writing the same stuff over and over? It's not that I think you're wrong (you're not), it's just that what you're doing here is POINTLESS. Lesser-of-two-evils voters aren't going to be converted by this doom and gloom stuff you're peddling. And I'm just averse to you on a personal level, since I know you're a conservative bullshit artist whose schtick is designed to convince people to stop voting for Dems. It'd be great if just once you'd post a game plan for the future other than "we're all doomed" and "don't vote for Democraps". Waiting...
8:09, you are so right, but Democraps will never get that it isn't always what you say but how you say it and, aside from his "doom and gloom," he's incapable of saying anything without acting like a condescending asshole. He seems to be an emotional basketcase who's way too wrapped up in his own ego. He's very Bill O'Reilly-ish.
ReplyDeleteYou two dumb-o-trolls are late for the hive meeting at Kos headquarters. Head down to the lowest level, take a hard right turn, and start running until you hit the wall.
ReplyDeleteRios, He's not acting.
ReplyDeleteLook at all you guys... projecting and all.
ReplyDeleteUntil you all realize once and for all that your democrap party and lesser evilism is what got us here, we'll never even try to fix it.
If the democraps are not the answer, and they are not, we need to find a different answer. pretty simple intellectually, very difficult pragmatically given the limitations of the collective human inability to take bold action (see: climate change).
I've never voted for any republican and never will. I've not voted for a democrap since the DLC turned the Democratic party into the democrap shithole. So far, I've found the Greens modestly compelling -- certainly better than anything the democrap party can offer. But I've also looked at Socialists and may go there if I see someone worthy. You may find this interesting but, at least at the local level, the Socialist candidates tend to be real oddballs. fwiw. you do what you want.
YOu can hate the messenger. I don't care. But you ignore the message at everyone's peril.
Their job here is to get the rest of us to ignore the message, 1:35. They will be taken care of once the election is handed over the the GOP.
ReplyDeleteSo you admit that the GOP will come after us but won't come after you "once the election is handed over to the GOP." Looks like 8:09 is right about your kind.
ReplyDeleteGo get your battery changed, Gizmo. You aren't working properly.
ReplyDeleteto be fair, 1:47, it's an easy message to ignore. The system is rigged such that there is only ever a choice between the Nazis and the fascists. And NOT voting for fascists will only serve to help the Nazis. simple math.
ReplyDeletethe message is meant, I believe, to inform those that while they vote for democraps ONLY so that Nazis are impeded, they should not be expecting their democraps to do anything useful.
The money has truly created a system in which they cannot ever lose and the people cannot ever win.
What's so sad is that the people like Rios et al still think they can win.
