Bill Clinton, David Brock & the Kitchen Sink

>

Everything But The Kitchen Sink Soup (source)

I hope this is wrong. From the middle of this Wash Post piece (emphasis in the original):
-- Did Bill [Clinton] go off the reservation with his attacks on Sanders? Or is he being strategic? We think the latter. Or, as Marco Rubio put it in a different context: Let’s dispel with the fiction that Bill Clinton doesn’t know what he’s doing. He knows exactly what he’s doing.

1. His seemingly off-the-cuff attacks got intense coverage yesterday, enough so that he did not need to repeat the lines of attack and could show restraint. “The hotter this election gets, the more I wish I was just a former president and, just for a few months, not the spouse of the next one,” he said. “I have to be careful what I say.”

2. WJC accomplished his goal of signaling to pro-Clinton outside groups that they should start throwing the kitchen sink. David Brock, whose outside group coordinates directly with the Clinton campaign, called Bill’s comments “a strong call to arms.” As Brock told Politico, “Senator Sanders is trying to live in the purity bubble, and it needs to be burst.”

Last night, when Bill introduced Hillary, he sounded liberated. “Finally, the dam broke in the polarization of the campaign, and we are finally free” to have a discussion of whose ideas are better, he said in Hudson.
I really hope this is just rumor-mongering and pot-stirring by the Post. But I'm not optimistic.

They tried to drown Bernie in money, but we equalled that one. They tried the "wire the caucus" approach but we equalled that one too. They tried the realistic incrementalist vs. starry-eyed dreamer message, but Democratic primary voters are way beyond incrementalism. They tried the "He said he would never attack but he's attacking me," whine about messages that never mention her name. They tried the feminists vs. the sexist boys and stupid girls message, but Steinem f*cked that one up badly. They tried the "She is a woman and therefore cannot be the Establishment" message, but that is ludicrous on its face.

So she has no message that works. The kitchen sink is all that's left. It is the political equivalent of "when the law and the facts are against you pound the table." We tried to nominate a leftist in 2008, but he turned out to be a lying neo-liberal too. Hillary thought that loss was about Obama's personal story approach, so she hired Obamaites and told us all about her experience and re-ran her 2008 coronation drill. BIg mistake. Now she is ready to tear the Democratic Party apart because she can't have her coronation. May God Almighty and the US Court of Appeals protect the Republic from Ted Cruz.

Yes, they are gearing up to try and bring Bernie down, which is surprising to me. Is he truly the threat to corrupt establishment power that his supporters want to believe he is? Too soon to say. But I hope so.

To Joe: Bernie's entire career has been as a social democrat type on the economy. The only reason he hasn't been assassinated just yet is because he is also a military empirialist.

Hilbillary has proven to be a rather inept campaigner. With her advantages of funding and the novelty of proposing to be our first female unitary, you'd think that she could pretty much mail it in and win.

But the times are against her. The money train that she and hubby hitched up to back in the 80s has proved to be an utter disaster for 6.9 billion of the 7 billion humans on earth. Their neocon militarism has proved lethal for millions and has created multi-millions of desperate refugees, all while massively enriching just a few. Her husband's admins policies created the 2008 crash, forced 10M out of their homes and made 20M jobs go away (overseas or poof). Her novelty surrogate, obamanation, got elected much due to the fact that we know who she is and didn't really know who he was (but, amazingly, he got re-elected after we found out).

Only the most intellectually dormant D voters support hilbillary because she just simply sucks. Another 4 years of reaganomics, neocon obamanation, economic neoliberalism and free trade-a-paloozas will probably create a crater that will make 1929 look like salad days. Eventually, our half-tril trade deficit and our tril plus budget deficit will create a hole that treasury cannot print its way out of... and hilbillary as prez would do nothing preventative at all. They're going to steer that plane all the way to the scene of the crash. And cogent voters know this.

Bernie is probably our last chance to avoid total calamity. Voters know this.

Doesn't mean the money will let him win... or live... but he's our last chance just the same.
