AND ANOTHER ONE BITES, AND ANOTHER ONE BITES, AND ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST... CORRUPT AND REACTIONARY JOHN SHADEGG RESIGNING IN DISGRACE-- #29

>

Crooked Republican congressman John Shadegg cutting and running

We re-introduced far right lunatic and Arizona congressman John Shadegg to DWT readers last month when he was caught red-handed money laundering campaign funds. Eventually he may wind up in prison for taking bribes. But after proclaiming his innocence for the last month, he first returned the tainyed money and now is announcing his desire to spend more time with the family. He's the 29th Republican crook retiring so far in this session.

Shadegg is as good an example of the reptilian mind as you'll find in the Republican caucus. He's a hard wired fanatic right-winger. His voting record is absolutely putrid-- and completely out of step with his moderate suburban district. Shaddegg has voted on the Iraq war 62 times. There was not one single occassion when he disagreed with any of Bush's and Cheney's initiatives. There are very few members of Congress as dedicated to blind rubber stampism as John Shadegg has been. There is not a single issue that has ever come before Congress where he has been on the side of the American people or his own constituents. He is 100% owned by special interests and big corporations who have pillaged the American economy under the Bush and his congressional allies.

Today's Roll Call leaked the retirement this afternoon and CBS News reports that he announced his retirement soon after. It has been common currency of Arizona Republican politics that once McCain was too senile to keep up any pretenses of competence, even by the Senate's extremely low standards, Shadegg would get the seat. His ethical problems have turned into an albatross around the neck of the whole state party.

A reason to listen to Andrea Bocelli and Sarah Brightman again?

AZ has a good dem governor, but has routinely put forth horrifying bad people for Congress at the national level. This guy is just one example. How about Trent Franks? He's a mindless Republican drone too.

Too many commie-libs in Congress already. The last thing we need is another one.

Part of Arizona's problem is finding really good Democrats to run. Bob Lord may have raised a ton of money, but he's about as exciting as plain cottage cheese. It's time voters in CD-3 took a long hard look at Independent candidate Annie Loyd who has real personality, real positions on issues, and could seriously represent voters in this moderate district. Lord is another lawyer - don't we have enough of them in Congress already? Let's look for candidates who can represent us, and not who seem only to want the self importance of running.
