8 Republicans Voted Against Fighting COVID-19, Including BOTH Crackpots From Oklahoma
>
Conservative Republicans Cory Gardner (R-CO) and Rick Scott (R-FL) didn't vote yesterday, but the Senate finally passed the Coronavirus bill the House passed 6 days ago. I don't think McConnell and his cronies understand what exponential growth means. From Tuesday to Wednesday, Italy reported 4,207 confirmed new cases. German reported 2,0960 and Spain reported 2,920. And then came the U.S. which is not testing anywhere near the other countries-- but still reported 1,609 new cases between Tuesday and Wednesday. The dithering by McConnell and the Republicans who control the Senate is nothing short of criminal.
It passed 90-8. So which crackpot Republicans voted against fighting COVID-9? You can probably guess most of them.
• Marsha Blackburn (R-TN)The $104 billion bill increases unemployment insurance and guarantees free diagnostic testing for the coronavirus and provides up to 10 days of paid sick leave for some workers-- capping that at companies with 500 employees and allowing for companies with fewer than 50 employees to apply for a waiver. Par for the course, Republicans flipped out over the paid sick leave, which they vehemently oppose. Nebraska Republican Ben Sasse, showing his true colors, was opposed to the bill because he thinks it costs too much. "There is a herd mentality around this building right now where a lot of normally smart people are literally saying things like: The most important thing is to be fast, even if the ideas that are being advocated for are not really ready for prime time and can't really withstand the scrutiny of debate. That is a really dumb idea."
• Jim Inhofe (R-OK)
• Ron Johnson (R-WI)
• Jim Lankford (R-OK)
• Mike Lee (R-UT)
• Rand Paul (R-KY)
• Ben Sasse (R-NE)
• Tim Scott (R-SC)
And yesterday, as you probably know, the first member of Congress to test positive for coronavirus, Mario Diaz-Balart (R-FL) announced he's feeling better. A bunched Florida lawmakers-- many who have been hanging around Mar-A-Lago, Trump's fecal swamp, have been quarantined, including one of the two senators who didn't vote yesterday, Rick Scott.
Labels: coronavirus, Diaz-Balart

Oklahoma, where the state government won't fund tornado shelters for their kids' schools. Why would they care about public health from epidemiological sources?
When Texas secedes, they have to take Oklahoma with them.
EVERYONE needs to be tested and not just once, hell you could test negative on Monday and pick this damn bug up on Tuesday. I believe the US STILL does not have nearly enough tests. This is a catastrophe of epic proportions and the reprehensible creatures inhabiting the WH need to be removed somehow.
CNYO beat me to it. There are already, or still, shortages of test kits (for all but congresswhores and pro athletes). Some of those innovative drive-thru testing places have had to shut down because they ran out.
But CNYO needs to read the previous article. The WH and Nazi senate are horrible. But the democrap house is no better.
And, thank gawd, we'll re-elect them all again in November.
$104 bil is chump change. Before it's over, Bernie's $2 Tril may not be enough. But what's 20 million jobs lost and 3.3 million corpses. We'll be fine. Let the private sector take care of it.
Remind anyone of Hoover? Oh sorry. that's history. we don't teach no history no more.
The bill does very little to "fight" the pandemic. It's mostly a few band-aids for all the shrapnel wounds that will be coming very soon to the poorest and a few initial corporate salves.
so what the Nazi 8 voted against was helping those who will be financially destroyed by it.
Frankly, I'm shocked that 50 of them didn't vote against it.
And what I'm sure of is this: The Nazis will not be voting for more help for the poorest and sickest because they already voted for $104 billion. And I see even Pelosi is bitching about the cash payments to people.
oh well. she'll get re-elected for sure.
At least obamanation ASKED for $700 billion even though only about a third of it was to help people.
