Mencken should have added that on that fateful day, the American people would be too fucking stupid to understand the truth.
What would Mencken be like today if he were around now? Would he remain the honest and caustic observer of the foibles of modern American life? Or would he have been a FAUX hack raking in the big bucks in the service of Big Money?
I doubt he'd like the american people any better than he once did either way.
I'm expressing my awe while proclaiming that this post was extremely well made and the administrator has my gratitude for sharing the aforementioned post.
My mother used to quote Mencken all of the time. Now I understand.
