In Los Angeles Democrats Don’t Refuse Fascism

>

-by Dorothy Reik

Before the election, just after Trump was nominated by the Republican Party, Refuse Fascism was created. “In the Name of Humanity We Will Not Accept a Fascist America!” their canary-in-the-coal mine yellow and black signs screamed out. They issued a statement and called for massive civil disobedience.

We didn’t listen.

Trump was “elected” and for a day we protested. Then we went home. Refuse Fascism did not go home. They organized. They protested. They tried. We didn’t listen.

This Nightmare Must End:

The Trump/Pence Regime Must Go!

In the Name of Humanity

We REFUSE to Accept a Fascist America

We are horrified and angered at the shocking damage already done to lives here and around the world by the Trump/Pence regime. We recognize that they are poised to do far worse, including threatening WAR, even nuclear war.  Through an unrelenting barrage of daily outrages and twitter outbursts, the Trump/Pence regime is radically remaking society-- step by step hammering into place a vicious American fascism. This is not insult or exaggeration, it is what they are doing.

Therefore, WE RESOLVE that nothing short of removing this whole illegitimate regime from power will stop this nightmare.

We still didn’t listen. We went home.

Refuse Fascism did not go home. They organized. They protested. They kept trying.

And so they got infiltrated by the Los Angeles Police Department. Yes, in our blue, blue city the police sent an informant to tape their meetings and the conversations he initiated. He could not get them to talk about violence because they are non-violent. They are welcoming, trusting, kind and compassionate. LAPD Captain Michael Moore justified the spying because "members that identified themselves as being within this group had traveled to other parts of the country, and that in other parts of the country, there had been criminal acts including vandalism, assault with a deadly weapon or arson..." Refuse Fascism members were not accused of being involved with violence-- just of being in a city where violence occurred!

After Tuesday’s Police Commission meeting Moore promised a public report. It should be noted that the Proud Boys were allowed to run rampant in Los Angeles because the LAPD had not bothered to infiltrate white supremacist organizations that actually do promote violence.

In November 2017 in desperation they blocked the 101 freeway-- twice. And one year later our blue, blue Democrat District Attorney, Mike Feuer, who has also gone after Black Lives Matter in general and Professor Melina Abdullah in particular, indicted them based on charges from the LAPD terrorism unit. He tried to get them for conspiracy. That charge was thrown out but enough charges remained to send those indicted to jail for three years.

Yes-- that is what I wrote-- the Democrats in Los Angeles infiltrated and indicted those protesting the Trump-Pence regime’s fascist policies. And guess what? The citizens of Los Angeles refused to convict them. The jury split 8-4 in favor of acquittal.

So what did Democrat Feuer do? He ordered a new trial to begin immediately. And so the trial is on right now--they didn’t let a day go by.

On Sunday at Immanuel Presbyterian Church supporters gathered. Stephen Rohde spoke. Peter Alsop and Ellen Geer played. Those charged told their stories along with Refuse Fascism organizers. We vowed to do more. Then most of us went home.

they were 40 years late with the "fascism" thing. We've been a fascist oligarchy since Reagan cut taxes on corporations enabling them to pay more for government ownership. The democraps quickly jumped on that gravy train led by slick willie, among many others (google: DLC; also Mussolini's definition of fascism -- he should know).

trump led the Nazi party to take the final short step into naziism. their voters jumped in with both jackboots.
And, again, the democraps climbed onto that AV, as this piece anecdotally shows.

Part of the problem; part of the stupidity is that americans cannot or will not call it what it is.

If we had called it fascism back in the early '80s, would voters have reacted with sufficient revulsion to change course?
If we had called it naziism in '15 when trump first started his anti-immigrant/muslim/black/woman rhetoric, talking about shooting someone and so forth... would anyone have reacted with revulsion? How about when WE started kidnapping kids at the border? when some of them died? We're almost ready to call those centers 'concentration camps'. We should go all the way to the truth. would it matter?
If we call Pelosi, scummer, bustos, Clinton, etc 'fascists', would anyone on the left react with revulsion?

If words have no meaning, we should just recycle all our dictionaries and shut down m-w.com as useless vestiges of a time when language was useful.

Maybe if we actually called it what it truly is, some who have been on autopilot for 4 decades will awaken. couldn't hurt anyway.

Neither party actually represents voters and their needs. They represent holders of large sums of capital who have certain issues and desires that they pay the parties to provide. The name the party adopts while representing large capital is essentially meaningless, as the party will only represent the capital which pays them for those services.

So chiding "democrats" in CA when they act like Texan "republicans" is useless. The party label can change even though the behaviors of the party won't. Nixon's Southern Strategy proved that. When racist "democrats" changed affiliation to "republican", they were still racists.
