Forget The Partisan Bullshit For A Minute-- Which Side Of History Do YOU Want To Be On?

>

I love hearing John Oliver make an argument. He's my second favorite news anchor-- after Chris Hayes. When I heard the video above, I was in another room and didn't realize it wasn't Oliver. It sounded brilliant and it made the news fun, the way he does. But it was actually a very serious-- deadly serious journalist Mehdi Hasan, speaking for The Intercept. Please watch it; Hasan takes apart one lame anti-impeachment argument after another apart.

On Friday Jerry Nadler, Chair of the House Judiciary Committee, was a guest on WNYC. He made the case for Pelosi's go-slwo/run-out-the-clock approach: "Impeachment is a political act," he said, "and you cannot impeach a president if the American people will not support it. The American people right now do not support it because they do not know the story. They don’t know the facts. We have to get the facts out. We have to hold a series of hearings, we have to hold the investigations... Part of the function of Congress, just the same as the Watergate hearings 40 years ago, [is] to have a dialogue with the American people so people can make informed decisions and know what’s going on. It’s very important that [Mueller], to a television audience and to the American people, state it and answer questions about it, even if there is no new information."

Nadler is dragging his feet. Over half the Democratic members of his committee have already called for impeachment, despite him and Pelosi and Hoyer:
Ted Lieu (D-CA)
Jamie Raskin (D-MD)
Pramila Jayapal (D-WA)
Joe Neguse (D-CO)
David Cicciline (D-RI)
Veronica Escobar (D-TX)
Val Demings (D-FL)
Steve Cohen (D-TN)
May Gay Scanlon (D-PA)
Greg Stanton (D-AZ)
Madeleine Dean (D-PA)
Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX)
Cedric Richmond (D-LA)

So which Democrats on the Judiciary Committee are still protecting Trump from impeachment? Zoe Lofgren (D-CA)-- who fought like a rabid dog to steal the chair from Nadler-- Blue Dog Lou Correa (CA), and a gaggle of leadership-shills: Hakeem Jeffries (NY), Hank Johnson (GA), Ted Deutch (FL), Lucy McBath (GA), Debbie Mucarsel-Powell (FL), Karen Bass (CA) and Sylvia Garcia (TX).

a. I trust Nancy Pelosi's political judgement.
b. This keep Trump dangling, which is driving him crazy: will it happen or not??? he can't handle the uncertainty.

I wonder if anything close to this topic was discussed at the democraptic Party Convention last week. As blind as they are to most things (except handouts of corporate cash), I'm going with no.

To thinking persons I ask: "How can the Party expect to win when they don't DO anything?" When a blind man can see the need for impeachment, the democraps pretend that they have the slightest clue of what they are about. They will be SO shocked when Trump routs them in 2020 because -as was done in Milwaukee if not many other places- voters stay home. At least one Milwaukee voter interviewed said that "They didn't do anything for us."

As much as I hate and detest Republicans, I have to hate the democraps more since they won't act.

tony has to be a scientologist. if you believe in Pelosi at this point, you also must believe in any manner of other nonsense. Mormon?

"you cannot impeach a president if the American people will not support it. The American people right now do not support it because they do not know the story. They don’t know the facts."

And this fucking idiot is Pelosi's hand-picked judiciary committee chairwhore... no surprise.

1) if you do your fucking job and start the impeachment process, the airing for those American morons who don't know the story (must be 100 million of us currently in comas) of the story is the goal of that process. Yes it is political in that the hearings, evidence and trial are as much intended for the populace (and world) as for the servile corrupt senators. But nobody gets enlightened when you refuse to start the process.
2) so... do your fucking job and let the senate prove what we truly are to the world -- a Nazi oligarchy. It would be valuable for them that we remove all remaining doubt about that.

and a "I told you so": I've been saying that Pelosi is the house despot for months now... and for 4 years (2006 - 2010). this proves it.

it doesn't matter if 434 house members and 320 million americans support impeachment. it only matters that Pelosi will never do it. and Nadler serves at the pleasure of Pelosi.

so next time some sheepdog begs you to elect more democraps to the house.. remember that all that means is that Pelosi holds the gavel as the house despot.
