Midnight Meme Of The Day!

Today, America is celebrating a group illegal act. The men who signed the Declaration Of Independence knew they were breaking the law, even if they had morality on their side. Human history is funny like that. Our country was founded on that breaking of the law as we declared war and declared our independence from a madman who thought he should be, and should remain, our king. But, the immorality and the insanity of that king and his supporters pushed them too far. If they could see us today...

Fabulous meme for July 4th, Noah.
it would be more powerful if you posted the entire letter from paul that the Nazis (, slavers, etc) cherry-pick to justify their institutional hate/oppression. The entirety of it repudiates their favorite snippet.
the bible is like that. everyone can find a phrase, sentence or book to affirm their particular psychosis.
gawd was truly schizo.
Considering that the United States is no longer a nation governed by law, the theme is quite ironic.
The rich are not governed by law. The poor are. And hated minorities tend to have targets painted on their skulls.
However, the Nazis have always used "law" as an excuse for certain of their illegal actions. And they also liberally use the bible (as 'word of god') to justify their hatred and illegalities.
The separations of families is illegal, even though they claim they're following the "democrats'" law and quote Paul to justify it.
Then there were the torture memos justifying what is ABSOLUTELY CLEARLY illegal.
The democraps just avert their eyes and say they are "looking forward" (bank fraud, foreclosure fraud, torture...) instead of doing what law enforcement ALWAYS DOES, which is look backwards to prosecute crimes.
You can always assume that if someone is being illegally ratfucked, they are not rich nor white; that if someone is getting away with TRILLIONS in fraud or they are getting away with violating the Vienna Accords on Torture, they are rich, white and/or own or operate government.
"Our country was founded on that breaking of the law as we declared war..."
Technically, war was not declared except by the King sending troops to put down the insurrection. We had no body endowed with the power to declare war at that time.
The Declaration of Independence was so much more than the American colonists telling the king to GFY. It was also much more than the narcissistic statement of individual sovereignty that it's come to mean in the past 50 years or so. It was a document that stated an aspirational creed for a SOCIETY that juxtaposed with the creed of british subjectry. Lots of very fine books on the topic.

"...the Declaration of Independence summarizes America's founding political philosophy. At once a cherished symbol of liberty and an expression of Jefferson's monumental talents as a writer, the document captures in unforgettable phrases the ideals of individual liberty that formed the backbone of American's Revolutionary movement. In setting forth these "self-evident truths" alongside a list of grievances against King George's Britain, the Declaration of Independence justified the breaking of ties with "Mother England" and the formation of a new country."
since yesterday was july 4, I thought I'd remind everyone of what we've been flushing slowly since Nixon was elected and are about to lose very soon now.
Saw this hand-painted on the tailgate of a '47 Willy's today: "RIP usa".
Ironies abound.
