Midnight Meme Of The Day

>

by Noah

Sunday thoughts again: I'm not a church-goer but I frequently walk past this church in my neighborhood in New York. Over the years, I've taken note that the church is a vital part of the local community, particularly providing a lot of activities for young people. One day, this caught my eye. Just thought I'd share.

America has become what America has become out of a steadfast refusal to look in a mirror. On the few occasions on which the nation takes a look at itself, as during the Vietnam war, a demonic character like Nixon comes along to smash the mirror.

Does anyone actually think that trump and all like him don't look in a mirror as often as they can and see exactly what they want to see?

America has become what it has become because we've been delusional about the monster staring back at us. Nixon and the succession of Nazis and 'craps ever since didn't smash the mirror. They told us what we'd see in the mirror, and we see it.

Where hate, torture, war, denial of sustenance, denial of care, forced impoverishment are all virtues and all forms of altruism are vices, mirrors are, if anything, OVERused.

Once in a great while, religionists really do have something pertinent to add to the discussion. It's a shame they lack credibility with those who need to heed their message.
