In the meantime, according to Ray McGovern and Jeffrey Scahill, Trump will be preparing to launch wars against Iran and North Korea. Paul Craig Roberts summed up a recent article with the admonition that we should "prepare to die". We can only hope that there are enough military officers to take seriously their oath to "solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic".

I'm no Special Prosecutor, but I think that Trump has already done and said enough to demonstrate that he is an enemy of both the Constitution and this nation. Our military officer corps -who I already don't trust as far as I can throw them- are essentially our last hope, and having to rely upon them could still result in the end of the Republic as the price of not being vaporized in a nuclear blast.

Another good one, Noah.

Will something please HAPPEN already? The fan has virtually stopped circulating due to all of the shit hitting it and yet, here we are. Who knew the office of the President could have so much power? Trump is in charge of virtually everything, it seems, just like a king. He is ruining us at warp speed. Americans are like sitting ducks waiting for the axe to fall, and fall it will. The only question is where it will fall first.

Dream on Noah and Hone. He's not cornered and he's not acting like it. He's acting like a stupid, irrational, immature, petulant tyrant who can and does whatever he wants to do (or whatever fox and friends tells him to do).

We don't have a state-run media so much as a media (fox) run state.

Is it ironic that we waited for our media to become completely non-objective before we allowed it to run our nation?

Hone, I share your angst. But I have to ask ... why aren't 200 million people out in the streets protesting ... well, everything? I remember the viet nam war era. There were spontaneous marches, sit-ins and bake-outs every day to protest that war. Where is even a small percent of that today?

The reason why there were no protests like in Viet Nam era is simple. In the Viet Nam era there were protest because the boomers felt that their own asses were on the line.

1:02, in a very real sense, if not as ominously as then, everyone's ass **IS** on the line today. From the inevitable effect of a galloping kakistocracy on everyone below the oligarch level to the unavoidable resonant effects of climate change, anyone alive today is looking at a very uncomfortable near and far future.

Of course, people as stupid as americans are not going to be able to discern any of this.

As a Boomer from that era myself, I can attest to the accuracy of 1:02's comment. The ones I knew who were the most vocal about ending the Draft ended up becoming the most vocal about how Reagan was the greatest president America ever had. After all, the Boomers weren't going to end up fighting his wars in such vital theaters as Grenada. They could just wave the flag they wouldn't fight for themselves and denounce anyone who tried to do as they did.

I am ashamed of my self-serving demographic group.

2:12, we are contemporaries then. And I share your shame.

The boomers who weren't seduced by Reagan's racist/nationalist/neoliberal demagoguery were too stupid to also realize that the democratic party was being drowned in a vat of corruptic acid by the likes of bill fucking Clinton.
To pile on from there, we elected the motherfucker in '92. As a prize, we got 2008, cheney/bush, obamanation, Pelosi, reid, scummer and, now, trump.

We have been holding the same crap hand for decades and we keep bluffing... and losing. We never learn.
