Since both Passover and Easter are being observed this weekend, I offer this meme which illustrates the difference between Republican God and the other guy, or is it gal? Oh hell, I don't know. As far as I'm concerned, God must just be the Royal Galactic Emperor of Practical Jokes, very sick jokes at that. In my personal religion, that explains just about everything.

So -- God saved the Jews from slavery and helped them survive in the dessert but he did not lift a finger for the millions of Jews in the concentration camps during WW II. How anyone could still believe God would lift a finger to actually interfere and help "his people" or anyone else on earth is the height of absurdity. Uh, where has God been lately?
But then again, religion is the suspension of logical belief. How can anyone argue with that?
Religion is the source of much of the evil in the world. After going through the Passover ritual at a family gathering last night, my husband decided that next year we will go away during this event so we can avoid the hypocrisy of it all. Usually we put up with the readings and rituals with a grin but somehow last night he rebelled against the hubris of it all.
I love Ron Reagan's ad for the Freedom From Religion Foundation, which is aired occasionally on MSNBC. He is an avowed atheist and at the end of the ad he says with a smile, "I am not afraid of burning in hell." Kudos to him.

Absolutely agree! All of the "Christians" I know are hypocrites and mean. Alas, they are also repuglicans. They all assume that everyone feels as they do. Religion is a crutch and for people who are weak and can't handle the realities of life, including the fact that we all don't see the world as they do.
religion is proof that humans are far too stupid to survive much longer.
