Tavis Smiley's Smart Interview With Bernie

Bernie has been doing a media blitz here in California-- and the polling in the primary has changed radically. A couple weeks ago, all the headlines about the horse race were about how Hillary was leading by double digits. The contest to win the June 7 race is now a dead heat.

I wondered, though, who in Bernie's campaign suggested he do the John and Ken circus on KFI. That was a bad idea. John and Ken are babbling clowns of a Trumpian nature. They epitomize what's wrong with the media in America and their show is the last place for a serious candidate to go. I think Bernie caught on to that pretty fast once the circus began and extricated himself as quickly as he could.

He's much better off with a radio host like Tavis Smiley, who's actually trying to shed some light on what candidates are all about-- who they are, what we can expect if they get into office... It's worth listening to the interview above. If you want to understand his campaign's strategy going forward, you'll hear Bernie explain it and making it clear how he can actually win the primary, despite the declarations of the Rachel Maddows and Chris Matthews of the corporate media world that the contest is over.

And Friday Bernie was on Real Time with Bill Maher, in a one on one interview. Maher brought up the unpleasant reality of the Clinton e-mail scandal that Republicans have blown out of all proportion and that Democrats have peremptorily dismissed as "nothing." Maher, understanding that the right-wing media is unhinged and worthless, understands that that doesn't mean there isn't any truth in anything they say. "The e-mail scandal" might not land anyone in jail, but it does point to something about Clinton for voters to take into consideration: her integrity and honesty, two characteristics that have made voters extremely wary of her. Compared to Trump she would be an A+ on each; compared to what we should expect for a candidate, she'd be lucky to get a "C."



They also talked about Chicken-Trump's tap-dance around the debate he promised to do with Bernie and about the electability argument and why the super-delegates should get behind Bernie so that we don't wind up with Trump in the White House.
