Romney's Mormon God Wants A More Warlike America
>
There's no way the Republican Establishment will allow their party's grassroots to stop their anointed nominee. Anyone imagining the Republican Party will have someone other than Bishop Willard "Mitt" Romney as its nominee next year, is as delusional as Michele Bachmann. And why should they care anyway? Romney's long public record is crystal clear on ONE thing... he'll do whatever they want him to do. He has no ideological foundations and will parrot whatever crap anyone loud and menacing feeds him-- perfect for the teabaggers.
He certainly wrote off one contingent of teabaggers this week, the ones who would like a less militaristic, less warlike U.S.A. I have a feeling that the Ron Paul supporters aren't going to embrace Romney's call for a bigger military budget.
Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney is calling for a century of American dominance in his first major foreign policy address, outlining plans to strengthen the U.S. military while rejecting multilateral institutions like the United Nations when necessary.
The former Massachusetts governor also condemns the isolationist policies supported by some tea party members in a speech to be delivered Friday at The Citadel, South Carolina's iconic military college.
..."This century must be an American century. In an American century, America has the strongest economy and the strongest military in the world," Romney says. "God did not create this country to be a nation of followers. America is not destined to be one of several equally balanced global powers. America must lead the world, or someone else will."
While he served as a Mormon missionary in France more than four decades ago, Romney has limited foreign policy experience. As he says in nearly every campaign stop, he has spent the majority of his life in the business world. But Romney has been critical of President Barack Obama's foreign policy, particularly the president's aggressive timeline to withdraw troops from Afghanistan.
At a campaign stop in Mount Pleasant on Thursday, Romney previewed some of the themes for Friday's speech. He called for 100,000 new troops, increased military spending and a larger Navy.
Yes, a Mormon missionary in France, but also a major job outsourcer to low-wage countries all over the world. And that's another key leg to Romney's foreign policy... faux "free" trade and an open door on outsourcing and off-shoring. Too bad the Democratic nominee can't offer something that most Americans would eagerly embrace. Yesterday, by the by, was the release of the latest jobs report. Looking beyond the very mediocre raw numbers, was some really bad news. Scott Paul, executive director of the Alliance for American Manufacturing got it immediately:
"There is no reason to celebrate this jobs report. Manufacturing, which lost 13,000 jobs in September, shows continued weakness. That's important to the overall economy because manufacturing has played an outsized role in contributing to our economy since the recession ended.
"The question is this: What will Washington do to respond? We need a jobs bill, and we need to hold China accountable for its role in reducing employment and export opportunities for American workers and businesses."
Romney has a record-- if not a voting record-- and a platform based on bringing back Bush's foreign policy and it's clear from both that he's not the man for the man for that job. This was only partially a joke yesterday:

Yeah, America needs a bigger military like a fish needs a bicycle. Gross overspending on the military is the single largest predicate cause of our national debt being so huge and it started with another mindless, empty suit - Ronald Reagan. Romney will be the next president, sure as shit, because the plutocrats want it that way. They wanted Obama in 2008, but they are going to throw him under the bus in 2012 for their newest lickspittle lackey, Willard Romney!
And where does that asshole think he's going to get the money for a bigger military? No one here is working, and he won't raise taxes on the wealthy. Pretty soon we'll reach our credit limit with the rest of the world, so that won't cover it. The only thing left that has any money is Social Security. He has said he won't touch Social Security, but he says stuff all the time that he doesn't mean.
Not that we need a bigger military. The one we have is already as big as those of the entire rest of the world put together, allies included.
How voters can fall for that horseshit time and again is more than I can understand.
