A music industry agent provocateur has a lively, entertaining newsletter and recently went backstage and did a hang with Ted Nugent and came to the conclusion, somehow, that Nugent is "brilliant," "embattled"... and "a star." Starts out well... for one line:
Sarah Palin can’t be President. She’s too divisive, she’s not qualified.
But we need a leader.
...Ted would end welfare tomorrow.
But what about underprivileged kids?
The Church can feed them, it’s sitting on tons of gold!
How about immigration?
Announce you’re gonna shoot illegals on sight, that’ll take care of the problem…
Phil Steir is a musician and a producer and a former DWT contributor who apparently caught the same newsletter. He responded:

All Ted Nugent talks about is hunting. Killing unarmed innocent animals. That's what turns him on. The more blood and suffering he puts his victims through the higher he gets. He is a serial killer who can't stop. He makes snuff videos of himself shooting animals with a bow and arrow and they never die immediately. You may not care about non human animals dying slowly but the fact that someone like Ted loves it and can't get enough says it all.
Ted Bundy was intelligent too..brilliant but had no empathy because he was a psychopath. So is Ted. listen to the way he talks. Right out of a Hollywood movie portraying a serial killer.
The fact that he told you he thinks illegal's should be shot gives you some insight into who he would be... if he could getaway with it.
200 years ago Ted would be in the outdoors killing native Americans. We all know it. 100 years ago he'd be head of the KKK in Michigan.
He's a true coward Bob who dodged the draft for the war in Vietnam because someone could actually shoot back at him. At the end of most of his killing videos he praises the brave troops and equates freedom with killing non humans. I've never heard anyone talk so much about war and how great it is yet would never actually participate in real combat.
He talks a lot of big talk but never backs it up unless he's shooting someone who doesn't even know they're being targeted. Most of his hunting is done on ranches where the animals have no way of actually escaping.
My dream would be to see Ted go into a UFC cage and fight the vegan Mac Danzig or Jake Shields. Can you make that come true? Imagine the PPV revenue of a vegan like Mac or Jake fighting Nugent?
He is the ultimate right-wing hypocrite and I can guarantee you he's not "friends" with Tom Morello. Tom has dignity, compassion and wisdom.
When I was running Reprise, Nugent had some wimpy hair-band on our sister label, Warner Bros. Man were the guys who ran WB ever embarrassed! In 1995, even before Atrios was blogging my head of online promotion put this up on the Internet. I doubt anyone's ever heard it before tonight. People have seen this though:

I still like the Amboy Dukes, particularly "Journey to the Center of Your Mind", turned up just short of blowing your speakers. Ted however hasn't aged so well. Most people get their taste for blood out.
Certain African nations are looking for some blood thirsty politicians, and BONUS-you can shoot game in penned fences there too.
Let us hope that Karma remains its own fruit for Ted as far as shooting animals trapped on fenced property.
Ted truly is a man filled with anger and hate. He is one of those men who lives with so much pain, anger and blame that he only knows how to deal with it by shutting down and lashing out and hurting others. He is an insecure coward, sexist and an absolute racist.
There were a few emails on the Lefsetz blog in reaction to me calling him a racist claiming I was just another liberal whining about a great American and that Ted was not a racist.
One listen to the audio supplied here by DWT (and Daisy) and the truth is exposed again and again.
He may be a talented guitarist...but
honestly his music sucks. He is a tacky low brow moron who thinks it's hilarious to call Obama a piece of shit during his concerts.
The only way men like Ted can feel better is to cause harm and the more pain he inflicts on his victims the better he feels.
Ted's favorite activity in life is to follow blood trails of his victims he's shot with a high tech bow...through the great out doors. This is his drug.
The scary thing is that there are millions of men just like Ted out there who do not have the courage to find compassion and kindness in themselves but would rather resort to violence ad killing to ease the agony of their own self hatred.
He is your average right-wing reactionary white male but happens to just have a rather dim spot light on him.
like OK, Ted IS a draft dodger and coward who hunts animals trapped in a pen, and is apparently rich enough to promote and attract some kind of following, but don't you be putting the Amboy Dukes down...they rocked and still do.
The news people went crazy when The Dixie Chicks said they were embarrassed about Bush. But, not a peep out of them when Nugent calls the current president a "piece of shit" and worse. If that isn't proof where they stand on the political spectrum, I don't know what is.
