The Haters-- And Today It's Just 9

>

Yesterday the House voted-- overwhelmingly-- to suspend the rules and pass Tom Harkin's bill to amend title XXVI of the Public Health Service Act to revise and extend the program for providing life-saving care for those with HIV/AIDS (the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Treatment Extension Act of 2009). For normal Americans, regardless of party, it was a non-controversial, bipartisan endeavor and it passed 408-9. All the Democrats (including homophobic Blue Dogs who routinely vote against gay equality) and 162 Republicans including every single GOP closet case in the House and most of the garden variety hatemongers, voted for it. So who voted "no?" A motley array of the most vitriolic, hate-filled Republican bigots who come crawling out from under their rocks to revel in this kind of thing:

Kevin Brady (R-TX)
Paul Broun (R-GA)
John Duncan (R-TN)
Jeff Flake (R-AZ)
Virginia Foxx (R-NC)
Louie Gohmert (R-TX)
Cynthia Lummis (R-WY)
Ron Paul (R-TX)
Ted Poe (R-TX)

Amazing that Paul Broun represents Athens, Georgia, although it is worth noting that Athens' Clarke County voted against Broun 15,851- 27,130 last year, one of only two counties smart enough to recognize Broun for what he is. As for Virginia Foxx... what can anyone say? Many think she's worse than Bachmann and even more bigoted than Gohmert. Patty McHenry ought to smoke a doobie and have a heart to heart with her one day

The referendum in Maine is coming up and it's very neck and neck (48-48% in the newest poll). Blue America is still holding to our decision to not endorse any candidates running for office until after the No On 1 vote November 3. Please consider donating.
