Which Democratic Senator Is Most Like A Republican? Vote Today

>

Our pals at DFA and PCCC have teamed up to run the ad above-- in the state you pick. Depending on which poll you look at, something between 76% and 82% of Americans favor the public option in the new new health care reform legislation. The House bills and the Senate HELP Committee all include the public option. But the Medical-Industrial Complex and Big Insurance have literally bought off the entire (100%) Republican caucus to oppose the public option and they have also shoveled immense amounts of money into the coffers of conservative, corrupt Democrats like Max Baucus, Evan Bayh, Joe Lieberman, Arlen Specter, Ben Nelson, Blanche Lincoln, Kent Conrad and Mary Landrieu.

You're probably aware of the on-going Blue America Campaign For Health Care Choice which has been running TV spots in Arkansas letting voters there know that Blanche Lincoln has disgraced herself-- and their state-- in an orgy or bribe-taking while opposing health care reform for average working families on behalf of the CEOs who pay her off. She's now backed away-- at least tentatively-- from her hard core Republican stance, although she's now viewed as being "on the fence." (Please donate to our campaign so we can knock her off the fence or-- better yet-- out of the ballpark.)

But working on stinkin' Lincoln isn't enough, not when the entire GOP and half a dozen Democrats as bad as they are are working diligently to undermine health care. That's where DFA and PCCC come in. They're asking you to vote for which Democrat they should target. Please do.

I want to put in my pitch for Evan Bayh, the organizer and head of the Senate Anti-Obama Caucus of conservadems. If you read DWT you already know with what contempt we hold the slimy reactionary shithead from Indiana. But you may ask yourself is he really as bad as Joe Lieberman or is he really as damaging to this legislation than Baucus? Perhaps not but neither Baucus nor Lieberman (nor Landrieu nor Nelson, the two Democrats who vote most frequently with the GOP) are up for re-election. Bayh is. We can annoy, perhaps even embarrass, Ben Nelson or Joe Lieberman. We can really damage Evan Bayh-- like Blanche Lincoln. That's why I'm urging all DWT readers to vote for Bayh. It's the only time we'll ever suggest that, believe me!

UPDATE: Baucus Wins

There were about 64,000 votes and Baucus, who has taken in about $4,000,000 in legalized bribes from the Insurance Industry and the Medical Industrial Complex in return for his cooperation in sabotaging effective health care reform, got the most votes, over 15,000 (around 23%). The PCCC and DFA "will launch the ad in three Montana media markets-- Billings, Butte-Bozeman and Helena. It will be at 'saturation levels' for the first week on broadcast TV during news shows."

Howie, I think Bayh accurately represents his Indiana constituency, though. Sad, but true. Kerry, on the other hand, is supposed to hail from Massachusetts, not from the state of Corruption and Soft Money. He really, really should know better. I assume he's relying on his history and other votes to coast him over this one, and as someone with a few ties to his state, I hope they nail his carcass to the wall for it.

Not that I've ever been a Kerry fan or want to defend him, but... when we help elect Democrats ti high office, like Bayh, we should be able to expect them to help bring some progressive ideals to their constituents, the way Eric Massa does in upstate New York, by communicating with them effectively. Bayh-- as well as Lincoln and Pryor and Nelson-- consistently push reactionary values and never stand up for progressivism.

I think Nancy Pelosi is more Republican, than anyone that is on that list.
If had have to pick from the list, I'd say John Kerry.

Howie, did Bayh get elected on a progressive platform? My impression is that he's been a Blue Dog since campaigning about 20 years ago for the governor's mansion on tax cuts. If so, he's pretty much giving his constituency what they want. Which is more a reflection on that constituency, sadly, than on the extremely ambitious little weasel they've shoved into the US senate.

I feel all REP. in the House are traders along w/ some DEM. as traders to the people.
We voted this Pres. in office, by a land slide.
Now that we have a Pres. that doesn't keep us in the dark, the Rep.party wants no part in fixing the "little people". "We the People" are the little people.
Sitting around like ducks, waiting to drown & be swallowed up;by the Rep.Gators.

Why is it that when the republicans are running congress, on the big issues, they ALWAYS stick together and support their republican president? Dems have the majority!!! What the BLEEP???!!! All progressives want a public option!!!

Shelly from Hawaii is right. The repugnants stick together and the Lincolns, Pryors, from my home state of Arkansas, along with the others mentioned find excuses,(lame ones)to act like right wing repugnants. Health Care and the Employee Free Choice Act are prime examples.

Max is holding out for a reform that keeps the wasteful insurance industry in the loop because of the millions in campaign contributions he's received from the industry.

We could provide first-class Cheney-care to 100% of US citizens for the same dollars we are spending today to cover 85% of the people. It's called Medicare-for-all, but it would exclude Max's funders from the system. But they don't like that a bit.

And it would save every US corporation $6500 per employee per year for every employee they are now paying healthcare premiums for. They could instead spend that money on more jobs in the US rather than outsourcing to other countries. But our corrupt politicians stand in the way. Baucus especially. He should be unemployed in 2010.

Overall I don't think Kerry is as conservative as portrayed on this website. Bachus is a disaster and we are represented by a dem with clearly a republican mindset, he should go. Feinstein is my senator and as my senator I gave her office in SF a call only to be told they really did not care what I thought about healthcare.
I used to believe that America was a democracy but with the recent behavior of Congress I have my doubts. Seventy-four percent of us want healthcare, not more private insurance. We want what the Canadians and every other civilized nation provides for its citizens. It is clear in America that our elected representatives do not work for us. They work for corporations. This is evidenced with the recent bailouts and the attention paid to big pharma and insurance companies. If they don't represent the people they should have the integrity to resign. At the very least, let us know democracy is dead and we can stop wasting time voting . Single payer is already off the table. Shame on all of them. How can they profess to love America all the while hating Americans.
I have given up on the political process and will wait for the revolution. If we aren't in the streets, there will be no change.

Barcus and all blue dog Dems should be voted out for taking huge ' bribes' and working against the will of the people ! How dare he they be so arrogant. Many if not most of these blue dog Dems won on Obama's coat tails But we can easily vote them out . August vacations- while folks are suffering ? Not on your life.
Voters will remember this time-those who worked against us. Public servants ? No way - it is we who serve them ! They have the best health benefits we can buy- vote for their own pay raises- get great pensions after just a few years - not 25-30 yrs- like average folks.
They all live like royalty- while we suffer the worst meltdown in our lifetimes.
GOP deregulation policy since Reagan set us on the path to world wide crisis. Then Bush Sr - W & Greenspan kept that policy going and added trillions in fat cat tax cuts- and lied us into Iraq. Shameful.

GOP had the power 20 of the last 28 yrs- many with a GOP congress - so they deserve 80 % of the blame for this meltdown - Clinton was the only Dem since 1980.- and he was weak and he signed Glass Steagal.. very bad decision. - so was NAFTA -
Free trade is OK - but it has to also be
FAIR TRADE. Perot was right when he said
" If NAFTA passes - there will be a huge sucking sound of jobs leaving the US '
and NAFTA made it so much easier to get drugs across the Mexican border.
The Obama admin must hammer the GOP
AND the blue dog Dems to get his agenda passed- the one we voted for. That's what smirking Tom Delay aka the hammer - did. Fight fire with fire. Is Obama doing this behind the scenes- doubt it. I still support Obama- he has taken on a massive challenge- one he did not create. So he deserves a fair chance- 6 months is no time at all- after 25 yrs of GOP horrid policy of deregulation. and Wall St greed and unethical practices. let them know how you feel at
www.whitehouse.gov
www.senate.gov
www.congress.gov
Tell them we will vote them out unless we get single payer or a public option
NOT A CO-OP !!! that helps Insurance CO 's.
thanks

Feinstein. ANYONE still under the delusion that this Country is a democracy is a fool, it's a Fascist country by definition. The government collect taxes and issues government bonds for the CORPORATE WELFARE KINGS. Deficit spending, since Reagan's corporate tax cuts, is financed with bonds and the proceeds of these bonds is then doled out to the CORPORATE WELFARE KINGS with the interest and principle paid by individual taxpayers. The Pentagon is a government inside the government as is the Wall St.-Wash., DC AXIS OF EVIL. Just this past week the government designated 25 banks too big to fail. The too big to fail strategy is taught in law and business schools now. The country is in the control of the money changers and history is replete with warnings opposing usury. The reason their are no longer loan sharks is that loan sharking has been legalized for the bankers.

All the blue dogs who have joined the Republicans and their solution is EAT POO AND DIE AMERICANS, no health care is better than any/all public options, except for us Senators who enjoy socialized medicine, Bethesda Naval Hospital comes to mind. WE Senators also vote to fund Israel, $500 yearly for each Israeli, so that Israeli's enjoys socialized medicine which INCLUDES MASSAGES, with chocolate if desired, compliments of the American taxpayers.

While I support the fact that Bold Progressives is trying to go after the Democrats fighting the public option, Adam Green is smearing John Kerry in this effort.

Senator Kerry has been a supporter of the public option since before the debate began. Here is a reponse he wrote on Daily Kos a few weeks ago:
""Been working very hard on the Finance committee to try to see it included. Harder slog than it ought to be. I ran for President with a public option as an anchor off my health care plan, want to see one now that we get to do reform. Would do Medicare for all if I could start from scratch, so I’m a definite supporter of a strong, national public option. We’ll see what we can do. Glad to see HELP Committee passed out a bill with one today – EMK and Dodd, you couldn’t have two better leaders on this issue."
http://www.dailykos.com/comments/2009/7/15/124310/060/125#c125

Kerry is on Howard Dean's list as for the public option. Kerry's office disputed the poor piece of Huffington Post "journalism" that spoke of Kerry floating a proposal on triggers the day it was posted. The article also included a clue that there was no proposal - they indicated there was no discussion.

Does this sound familiar - a charge that goes against the entire public record of the man, backed only by anonymous sources? I recall something like that - and the Bold Progressives are swiftboating Kerry and Adam green should be ashamed of himself.

PS his own response to people who question his write up is that he acknowledged Kerry was a supporter of the public option. (He wants a comprehensive statement from Kerry that he has asked no other senator for)
