The GOP Is Still Strong In Parts Of The Former Slave Holding States But In California It's Basically Turned Itself Into A Cult

>

Will the California GOP have to merge with another cult to stay viable?

Yesterday we mentioned that there are about 3 dozen congressional districts around the country currently represented by an obstructionist Republican that was won by Obama in November. Eight of those vulnerable congressmen represent districts in California. Here's the list-- with the percentages won by Obama and McCain:

Dan Lungren (CA-03)- 49-49%
Elton Gallegly (CA-24)- 51-48%
Buck McKeon (CA-25)- 50-48%
David Dreier (CA-26)- 51-47%
Ken Calvert (CA-44)- 50-49%
Mary Bono-Mack (CA-45)- 52-47%
John Campbell (CA-48)- 49-49%
Brian Bilbray (CA-50)- 51-47%

Each of these members of Congress has been a die-hard obstructionist against Obama's agenda for change. They are all Bush-Republicans who just plain do not get it. And the bad news isn't that the DCCC is coming after them. The really bad news for these clowns comes from Allan Hoffenblum, a lifelong Republican and former political director for the state GOP.
The Republican (voter) registration is just going off the cliff in California. There is not a single Assembly, state Senate or Congressional district that has a majority of Republicans. Some have a plurality, but none have 50 percent plus one. And it’s not people dying or moving out of state. They’re changing to decline to state.

The party is in serious trouble. It’s crumbling beneath their feet, and they’re out there trying to defeat more Republicans.

A dying party can’t beat the Democrats, so they fight among themselves. It’s what happens when parties become a cult. It becomes a regional party and not a viable statewide party.

The California Republican Party is still bigger than the Raelian Church, the Jimmy Buffet fan club, the Rocky Horror Picture Show, and Sun Myung Moon's Unification Church, but other popular cults, like the Mormons and Scientologists are catching up... fast.
