And The Winners Are...
>
Last night at midnight the People For the American Way competition ended with a bang. In all, 1,171 individuals donated close to $126,000. Half a dozen of the progressive Democrats on the list wound up with over $7,500:
Gary Peters (D-MI)- $33,857
Judy Feder (D-VA)- $31,687
Victoria Wulsin (D-OH)- $14,687
Dennis Shulman (D-NJ)- $13,769
Russ Warner (D-CA)- $9,259
Martin Heinrich (D-NM)- $8,959
Although Judy and Gary went back and forth over the past 10 days between first and second place, in the end it was Gary Peters who gets first prize, something he can surely use after Bush's fundraiser for the right-wing rubber stamp he's running against, Joe Knollenberg, this week.
After PFAW removed duplicate donors they announced that the second and third prizes (for most donors) went to Vic Wulsin and Dennis Shulman, each of whom is running against the worst member of Congress from their states, respectively Mean Jean Schmidt and Scott Garrett. Hopefully all of the candidates will win their contests in November. You can continue donating to their campaigns for the rest of the cycle.
