Still no invite to the shady fundraiser some English aristocrats are throwing for McCain at Spencer House tomorrow? Don't worry; now that the dubious and completely unethical event has been leaked to the press-- forcing McCain to pay a portion of the immensely expensive international series of photo-ops and campaign events-- it will get plenty of coverage. In fact, the fun has already started. Ken Silverstein over at Harper's Magazine has quite a bit of dirt already. I'm sure you'll remember that McCain's shindig is being hosted by Lord Rothschild and the obscenely rich Nathaniel Rothschild.

Turns out Nate got his loot by working for Oleg Deripaska, one of the richest and most corrupt oligarchs in Russia. "Deripaska’s name might ring a bell. Back in early 2006, lobbyist Rick Davis, who now serves as McCain’s campaign advisor, helped introduce the senator and the oligarch during an international economic conference in Switzerland. McCain didn’t do anything for Deripaska after the meeting, but the Russian was grateful for the introduction. Deripaska wrote 'a thank-you note to Davis and his partner and offer[ed] to assist them in a subsequent business deal,'" according to a January 25 piece in the Washington Post entitled Aide Helped Controversial Russian Meet McCain. (The "aide" is the Republican dirtbag Rick Davis, one of the group of shady lobbyists running the Double Talk Express.) Now the super-rich criminal Deripaska, whose U.S. visa was revoked, is expecting McCain to smooth everything over for him.
