EVER WONDER HOW THE BUSH REGIME HAS ENABLED ITS SUPPORTERS TO STEAL BILLIONS OF TAXPAYER DOLLARS? I MEAN EVER WONDER ABOUT THE MECHANISM?

>

That's cash, our tax dollars being transfered to GOP campaign donors via Iraq

Looks at this little teensy-weensy story that went out yesterday over AP's wires. Did you hear about it at CNN or Fox or CBS? It ends with this: "The United States has spent more than $100 billion on contracts in Iraq and Afghanistan in the last five years. In that time, the Justice Department has uncovered at least $14 million in bribes from rebuilding projects in those two nations alone." I guess that doesn't merit any coverage. How about systematic looting of the U.S. Treasury by the Bush Regime and its cronies?

Yesterday Peter Welch (D-VT) demanded an investigation into how a multibillion-dollar loophole exempting overseas projects was slipped into plans to crack down on fraud by government contractors. That sounds ominous, doesn't it? Slipping in a loophole? For the benefit of your campaign contributors? The loophole would allow Bush Regime cronies working on government projects abroad to avoid having to report contract abuse. Now that it has been discovered, the Regime refuses to say whether the loophole will remain in the final plans.

Congressman Welch to Henry Waxman, who is co-hosting an event for Andrew Rice with me in a few hours and who I plan to discuss this with: "Granting this safe harbor for overseas contractors flies in the face of reason. By taking this action, the Department of Justice is sending an unambiguous message: If you are a U.S. government contractor in Iraq, Afghanistan or elsewhere overseas, you have a green light to defraud our government and waste taxpayer dollars."
