MASTER RAHM AND HIS SIDEKICK CHRIS WANT LOTS AND LOTS OF $$$$. IF NECESSARY, THEY'LL SNEAK 'EM OUT OF YOUR PANTS WHILE YOU'RE SLEEPING

"Letters, we get letters, we get lots and lots of letters," a chorus used to chirp each week, introducing a segment on Perry Como's TV show back in the age of dinosaurs. Our friend Volt seems to have that feeling about e-mail, and definitely got (these) two too many.--Ken
The DCCC Wants My Money?
By Volt
It seems that the corporate flacks at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee think that I just fell off of the turnip wagon from Crawford, Texas.
I opened my e-mail on December 30, 2007, and I see a message from Rahm "Lets Purge the Congress of Progressives" Emanuel telling me that he must have $300,000 before January 31, 2008.
Here is his pitch:
Midnight tomorrow may mark the New Year but it also marks a critical deadline for Democrats.
Our FEC reporting deadline is Midnight tomorrow and we only have $77,378 to go to reach our Million Dollar Year-End Challenge.
House Democrats are so committed to making sure we have the resources we need they are TRIPLING every individual's gifts today.
Contribute TODAY and House Democrats will TRIPLE your gift.
Groups like Freedom's Watch and Tom DeLay's new group Coalition for a Conservative Majority have pledged to spend more than $300 million towards attacking our candidates.
That's $300 million the Republicans will spend to spin their untruths and distortions. We have to be prepared to fight back.
Everything hinges on us having a strong start to 2008 -- it can set the stage for everything that happens next November. House Democrats are so committed that they will TRIPLE your contributions before the deadline.
We need your urgent support to reach our goal of ONE MILLION DOLLARS -- we are only $77,378 away. Will you help us?
Contribute TODAY and House Democrats will TRIPLE your gift.
Thank you for your continued support.
Best,
Rahm Emanuel
Democratic Caucus Chair
P.S. There are just two days left before our critical deadline. We need your support to start the New Year right. Contribute TODAY and House Democrats will TRIPLE your gift.
Then on December 31, 2007, I see this in my inbox from Chris "Some Day I Want to Be Like Rahm" Van Hollen:
Elections can't be won today, but they can be lost.
There was an article in a local Washington paper that reports that our Republican counterpart, the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC), is going to be back in the "black" after Republican leaders funneled over $3 million into their accounts to help put them on track for 2008. Republicans will use that new cash to directly attack our Democratic candidates.
We cannot allow the Republican end-of-year surge to go unanswered. Our FEC deadline is midnight tonight -- we have just hours to go before this critical deadline where the media, political pundits and Republicans will use the totals in our bank accounts to judge our chances for success in 2008.
Contribute TODAY and House Democrats will TRIPLE your gift.
Everything hinges on us having a strong start to 2008 -- it can set the stage for everything that happens next November. House Democrats are so committed that they will TRIPLE your contributions before the deadline tonight.
We need your urgent support to reach our goal of ONE MILLION DOLLARS -- we are $33,512 away.
Please give now -- we can't let them take another election.
Contribute TODAY and House Democrats will TRIPLE your gift.
Thank you for your continued support.
Best,
Chris Van Hollen

OF COURSE, I HAVE NO INTENTION of sending any money to the Democratic Party until they take care of the following problems:
1. Rid the Democratic Party leadership of parasites like Rahm Emanuel and Chris Van Hollen.
If I wanted to contribute money at the bidding of corporate whores, I'd just send the GOP a check. These fools regularly recruit Republicans posing as Democrats to run for Congress while discouraging true progressives from seeking public office.
2. Rid the Democratic Congressional leadership of Bush enablers like Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid.
Has anyone reading this post seen any less effective majority party leaders than these two losers? Americans vote to end the Iraq war in 2006 and these two fund the war without a whimper? Bush vetoes child health care and they sit on their hands? Bush shreds the Constitution and they take impeachment off of the table?
3. And finally, and most importantly: Stand up to the Bush Crime Family and use the power of being the Congressional majority to undo what the Republican reactionaries have pulled off since 1946.
There it is. Simple and easy to understand.
Until then, the DCCC can take their pleas for money and stick them where the elephant puts its member as the "ESTABLISHMENT" Democrats willingly bend over and plead, "Thank you, sir! May I have another?"
UPDATE: THE PEOPLE'S ENEMIES AREN'T JUST THE REPUBLICANS-- THEY'RE ALL THE INSIDER SHILLS
Volt knows better than most the insidiously corrupt nature of Rahm Emanuel and his vicious and destructive coterie in Congress. That's because Volt is a longtime resident of suburban Houston, and his longtime congressional rep was none other than the Republican version of Emanuel: Tom DeLay.
I want to make another plea for financial assistance for a strong, smart progressive candidate in Illinois whose primary against a right-of-center Emanuel hack, Bill Foster, comes up February 5. Yes, I'm talking about John Laesch, perhaps the best candidate running for Congress anywhere-- and the one Emanuel should fear the most. If John is elected, I suspect one of his first goals will to reorganize the moribund and pathetically flaccid Progressive Caucus to make it into a force that can stand up to the right and to the corporate shills inside the congressional Democratic Party.
If you give to just one candidate between now and February, you could not do better than John Laesch.--Howie

Happy Holidays
We want to wish you a happy holiday season from everyone here at the DCCC. This year let's also skip the fruitcake and give the gift of a Democratic House instead. It's not that we don't love fruitcakes here at Democratic Headquarters, we do. But imagine the gift we could give to our country by putting a Democrat in the White House and a stronger Democratic Majority.
I'm going for the fruitcake myself.
Just remember the battle cry Blue America subscribes to:
"More and BETTER Democrats."
And let the DCCC eat fruitcake.
Cheers--
Ken
Last week Friday, I received a phone call from the Democratic party - I don't know whether the DSCC or the DCCC - asking for money. When I said that I would be happy to give to the Democrats when they put impeachment on the table and when they stopped funding the war in Iraq. The caller hung up on me when I said that I support the Democrats I want through act blue. (Did I say that the caller preceded her pitchby saying, "this phone call may be monitored for quality assurance" ?)
Well done, Leslie! That's one of those rare moments of triumph life affords us.
Best,
Ken
