MIDWAY TO INDIA PITSTOP AND I'M STILL THINKING ABOUT RAHM EMANUEL'S MACHINATIONS
>
I'm in an airport lounge at Heathrow waiting for my connecting flight to New Delhi. I'm a little freaked out because a 30 year old woman on the flight from L.A. died last night. I figured I'd find some solice in attempting a post from a public computer terminal, a Dell, which I have no experience with. Anyway, I just read the new Congressional Quarterly and saw an article about the special election in IL-14 to fill the seat being abandoned by Denny Hastert. He decided to abandon it on the day he was named as a bribe taker in a Cunningham-connected trial in San Diego last month, but this post isn't about Republican corruption. It's about the nearly equally repulsive corruption of the Democratic Insiders.
I found this paragraph especially revealing: "The Democratic contest includes Bill Foster, a scientist who party officials consider the leading Democratic candidate, and 2006 Democratic nominee John Laesch (right). Foster is personally wealthy, and on Nov. 29 his campaign reported that he loaned his campaign $600,000, bringing his personal spending in the contest to $921,000." Rahm Emanuel demanded to head the communications operations for the congressional Democrats and, foolishly, Pelosi gave him that key position. The fact of the matter is that the entire Democratic Party of IL-14, not to mention the district's grassroots, supports Laesch. Emanuel, desperate to stop a strong progressive in his tracks and elect a weak, rich Blue Dog, consistently feeds the media this sort of propaganda. CQ should know better.
And not a mention anywhere in the article about anyone's positions. Maybe it would be informative for readers if, for example, CQ mentioned that Foster, aside from trying to buy himself a seat, also supports a preemtive attack on Iran while the grassroots candidate, John Laesch opposes attacking Iran. Donate to John's campaign on our Blue America page.
UPDATE: PLANET DENNY WILL TRY TO PICK HIS OWN SUCCESSOR
I'm betting John Laesch would be Hastert's last choice to be the next congressman from IL-14. But the disgraced Speaker says he'll endorse someone, according to the Aurora Beacon News. "I will, but I'm not going to do it yet," said the still coy Planet Hastert. He only gave one hint: it will be a "positive" candidate and not "somebody that's going to do political trash talk all the time." He can't be thinking about any of the Republicans in that case. The special primary election is slated for Feb. 5, coinciding with the state's regularly scheduled primary date. The special general election will be held on March 8.
And expect the worst Insider shills and tools from the Democratic machine to endorse Rahm's Blue Dog any day now. My guess is that the first yipping, yapping Emanuel kissass, as always, will be Durbin, a decent senator but an abysmal political leader.

Who would want Hastert's endorsement or to be named a successor? Everyone he endorses, usually loses. Let him endorse Obie (milkdud) or Uncle Bill
Have a great trip Howie.
RE: Hastert. NO reply yet to Cele Meyer, an 85 year old grandmother and constituent of Denny's concerning her letter to the DeKalb Chronicle, his home town paper, asking Denny if he will honor the Revolving Door policy and NOT lobby for two years.
Your excelent Dec 01 post...

I think we can consider Ms. Meyer's question answered by the lack of any reply, Bil, but please keep us posted of further developments.
Ken
Wow, you were right on with that. Durbin endorsed Foster yesterday.

The AFL-CIO, however, endorsed Laesch, and I'm thinking that's better for boots on the ground.
