ARE THE HIGHWAYS YOU TRAVEL READY FOR AN INFLUX OF TRUCKS FROM MEXICO? BUSH AND A HOST OF REPUBLICAN RUBBER STAMPS THINK SO

George Bush seized power in a bloodless electoral/judicial coup in 2000 and proceeded to run the United States as if he were a Divine Right monarch. The most despised man to ever occupy the White House, and the head of the least successful administration in American history, Bush continues to ignore the will of the overwhelming majority of Americans-- on everything. Whatever public support for his war in Iraq he was able to cobble together with a systematic propaganda barrage has utterly collapsed everywhere outside of the most backward, low-information, brainwashed islands of superstition, bigotry, xenophobia and Know Nothingness, mostly in the Deep South. But every agenda he has pushed the hardest-- from the abolishment of the Social Security system to the destruction of free public education-- has been met with public rebuff. Cleaning up the mess he will leave after January, 2009, will be tantamount to the Egyptians chiseling the names of especially unpopular ex-pharoahs off the monuments (to themselves) that they had built.

Meanwhile, though, Bush is still busy thwarting the will of the people. Do you think anyone in America not directly profiting from the Mexican trucking business, favors Bush's decision to allow Mexican trucks to traverse American highways? Let Lou Dobbs do something useful for a change, instead of just stirring up divisiveness and racial animosity. So far the battle is being waged by the Teamsters Union. And it's a battle about highway safety, transport of illicit drugs, and, most ominously, national security. Bush says it's about Insider-inspired trade rules that almost no Americans support. Thursday Bush's Transportation Department did what they were told to do and opened up the whole country to the Mexican truckers.

The Teamsters, the Sierra Club and other groups said they would continue their legal fight to stop the program because of “serious safety, environmental, smuggling and security concerns.”

Leslie Miller, a spokeswoman for the Teamsters, said American truckers were most concerned about sharing the roads with potentially unsafe Mexican vehicles, not the potential of increased competition from lower-wage workers. “We have nothing against Mexican truck drivers; it’s the companies that exploit them that we oppose,” she said. “We’re absolutely not ready for this.”

The Teamsters say "the fix is in... [and the Regime] is trying to sneak this reckless and unlawful program into existence."

So which senators are rubber stamping Bush's latest plot against America? Plenty, of course, but the ones who can be held accountable, the ones likeliest to reassess, are the ones up for re-election next year:

And it looks like the Mexican trucks must be transporting either call girls or diapers because David Vitter (R-LA) is also a big supporter.
