WHO'S A WIMP?

>

I just got off a conference call with Chris Van Hollen which primarily addressed DCCC efforts to educate voters about the actual votes Republican House members have been taking especially the ones that are in direct conflict with what they say to the press. This, of course, led to a discussion of tomorrow's vote on the Responsible Redeployment for Iraq Act. I asked him if he felt more than just the same two Republicans, Walter Jones and Ron Paul, would vote with the Democrats to end the occupation of Iraq. After all, the Republicans who abandoned Bush in the Senate today were all rubber stamp Republicans up for re-election and in fear of losing their seats-- and every House member has to face the voters next year. He said there isn't one single commitment as far as he knows. I think if we are counting on fake moderates like Kirk, Walsh, Dent, Wilson, Castle, LoBiondo to start standing up for America, we'll be in Iraq forever.

At approximately the same time we were talking with CVH, John Boehner and Roy Blunt were presiding over a meeting of the House Republican Conference. Perhaps pissed off because his golf game was interrupted for the damn meeting, Boehner lashed out at the Senate Republicans who voted with the Democrats today to give battle weary troops a rest before sending them back into the cauldron of war. Boehner called them "wimps." And most of them are, but who is John Boehner to call anyone a wimp?
