JERRY LEWIS-- UP TO MORE BAD STUFF? OH, DON'T WORRY, IT'S JUST A MEASLY $276,000

>

Not even when my friend Andy used to call me a corporate mogul did I misplace $276,000. I mean that's a lot of money by anyone's standards. Of course, in the end, mogul or not, I actually worked for my money. Jerry Lewis (R-CA), on the other hand, is just a sleazy politician who earns (legitimately, more or less) $165,200 a year.

Now don't let the word "sleazy" float by too fast. It's the key to why Lewis can forget little matters like $276,000. You see, the salaried Inland Empire congressman has built quite the financial empire since he became a congressman. Lewis is estimated by some conservative sources to have come into as much as $10 million since beginning his career in public service corruption.

Today's Press-Enterprise reports that Lewis failed to report the $276,000 in stock earnings. That's a lot of earnings and, in Lewis' case it represents a principle based on millions of dollars in corrupt practices and bribes from lobbyists and developers galore. He may be the king of earmarks and he may have his constituents brainwashed that the earmarks were for them, but the stock earnings... well, I know people in CA-41 and they didn't get none of that.

Lewis says it was "an oversight" and that he'll fix it. Lewis has spent over $1,000,000 in legal fees to keep from being indicted in an on-going corruption scandal.
