WILL SENATE REPUBLICANS CONTINUE TO DENY REPRESENTATION TO THE MOSTLY AFRICAN-AMERICAN RESIDENTS OF DC? ASK GOP CLOSET CASE MITCH McCONNELL

Having overcome the racist rantings and juvenile tactics of two of the most disruptive, obstructionist and dull-witted members of the Congress, Lynn Westmoreland (R-GA) and Patrick McNutcase (R-NC) in Henry Waxman's Oversight and Government Reform Committee, the compromise granting D.C. "its first full-fledged seat in the House of Representatives passed the Judiciary Committee yesterday, clearing the final hurdle before a vote by the entire House, expected next week." It'll pass in the House and the Republicans hope to spike it in the Senate.

The only surprise in Judiciary was when one of the most extreme right members of Congress, Mike Pence (R-IN) joined the Democrats in voting yes. The other wingnit who voted with the Dems was a special case: Chris Cannon of Utah. The nature of the compromise gives Utah, the most right-wing state in the country, an extra seat in return for letting the (mostly African-American) residents of Washington have a member of Congress.

KKKlown of the day was right-wing fanatic/imbecile Louie Gohmert of northeast Texas, who proposed 44 congressional districts for U.S. military bases. He threatened to tie up the Committee for hours with his nonsensical bickering and the chairman of the committee, John Conyers had to say Gohmert was a good boy who works and plays well with others to back him down from his threats to make everyone on the committee's life miserable with his barrage of foolish amendments.

Senate Republicans have already been grumbling about the bill but Holy Joe Lieberman has abandoned them on this one and will join the Democrats, and, of course, the two Utah Repugs, for the debate. McConnell is threatening a filibuster, like he does on everything.


UPDATE: BUSH REGIME COMES OUT AGAINST THE DC COMPROMISE

Yesterday I mentioned that the Republicans count of McConnell to kill the compromise legislation to give Washington, DC residents a seat in Congress. Today the White House moved in swift and hard to back McConnell's plans to filibuster the bill to death, calling it unconstitutional. Torture's not; stealing elections, not, getting rid of habeas corpus is not, illegal wiretaps, not; but letting more African-Americans vote... well what would Roger Taney say about anything so outrageous?
