HOWDY DOODY NIMROD, ADAM PUTNAM (R-FL) MAKES A BOO-BOO
>
I know you're going to think I'm making this up... but my imagination isn't this wild. It's true Remember that little twerpy nitwit from Florida, Adam Putnam, the one everyone refers to as the Howdy Doody nimrod? Well, the poor thing is running for Republican House Conference Chair and he was allowed to make a speech today.
Although not considered as stupid as his drinking buddy, Patrick McHenry (R-NC), Putnam gave a fine demonstration of what happens when voters use no discernment whatsoever in making their electoral choices. Apparently the lesson Howdy Doody drew from last week's thumpin' his reactionary party took was that a former GOP Conference Chair, the House Republican's only African-American member in God knows how many years, J.C. Watts, scared off the "white redneck" vote the GOP depends on. I guess that's why they had to bring back Trent Lott over on the Senate side yesterday.
"White rednecks" who "didn't show up to vote for us" partly cost Repugs their congressional majorities is what Putnam announced to his stunned colleagues today. He blamed Republican losses on suburbanites, women and independents. OK, those groups voted for Democrats, as did many other groups: city dwellers, young people, old people, educated people... but Howdy Doody impressed his fellow Repugs with a new spin: "heck, even the white rednecks who go to church on Sunday didn't come out to vote for us."
Yeah... and if they ain't supporting the Republicans, pretty soon it's going to come down to just people with incomes over over $5 million a year-- but only the greedy selfish ones in that category-- plus white rednecks who don't go to church on Sunday and people who pick candidates in line with the Krosnick Effect (basically, placement on the ballot).
Putnam infuriated Watts, of course, when he said his stewardship "ruined the Conference" and he also pissed off his 3 rivals for the job, Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), Jack Kingston (R-GA) and Dan Lungren (R-CA), all of whom are rednecks.

Okay... when Howard Dean made reference to "guys with Confederate flags in their pickup trucks", the media were all over it like flies on horse dung. So I expect to see a furor over a Republican referring to the voting base as "rednecks". Except not. Because It's Okay If You're A Republican.
This guy represents Polk County, which is due west of here. Real red, real rural. He actually asked the Appropriations Committee to assure him that the Interior Budget would deal with the recent alligator attacks down here. We've had three. As opposed to meth manufacturing, which Polk County, FL is number one in the state.
