Now that there truly is no higher truth than spin, is it surprising that everything that happens is "good for the Republicans"?

>

Yes, it's pretty shocking to hear those right-wing fake-Democratic senators hurling accusations at Ned Lamont, their own party's candidate for the Connecticut Senate seat soon to be vacated (albeit forcibly) by what's-his-name, as if he's brandishing a white flag of surrender, waiting gleefully to wave the marauding Russkies onto our shores. Oh wait, it's not the Russkies anymore, is it? Well, whoever's invading us. The immigrants, isn't it?

it's amazing, listening to both the politocracy and the punditocracy. The Lamont victory:

• gives aid and comfort to the terrorists

• will be a death warrant for the Democratic Party

• is the best thing the Republicans could have hoped for

Yes, amazing, but not surprising. People who've been listening to the pols and the pundits in recent years were forecasting this before the primary. But it hadn't really occurred to me how fully perfected this art of spin has become until Rachel Maddow was talking to a guest on the radio this morning, and I think it was Rachel who asked if you've noticed that in recent years, no matter what happens, it's claimed to be good for the Republicans.

And since in the Age of Rove it's perception and not reality that matters, saying it pretty much makes it true. EVERYTHING turns out to be good for the Republicans.

Spin, baby, spin.

And too many democrats let them get away with their spin. Wouldn't it be refreshing to see a politician get in the face of the liars and call them on it?
If it were me, I'd take an invitation from ANY media circus pimp show and throw it in their faces. Then I'd stand up and walk off the set and tell them when the lies stop, I'll be back to talk. We got too many pansies in the party kids. Urge your congress person to defy the lies.

I’ve been thinking about the “spin” thing today too.
I watched the Charlie Rose show spin the Lamont win on PBS last night.
It’s so disappointing when you hope that PBS will be fair and balanced, to see them spin the election and frame it with the assumption that Joe Lieberman is a loyal “moderate” with high principles, instead of portraying him as the back stabbing, right wing extremist that he is.

Liar-man used a “half time” sports analogy after Lamont kicked his ass. I’d like to use one too.

If you’re playing for the Yankees, and you’re the major reason your team is losing, don’t act all surprised when your ass gets traded to the Bush Leagues.
