OHIO ON THE ROAD TO REFORM! MEET RON

>

Sherrod Brown's awesome Ohio political site, www.growohio.org/, posted some great news today-- news that every state with corrupt local politicians (I'd guess there are almost 50)-- should consider. RON's (Reform Ohio Now's) petitions, that included 353,094 signatures, were certified by the Ohio Secretary of State's office today allowing all 4 proposed constitutional amendments to head to the November ballot. These amendments will help make politicians more accountable and lessen the corruption in Ohio's political system by: allowing Ohioans to vote early by mail; helping to stop the influence of big money in elections by reducing campaign contribution limits; stopping politicians from drawing their own legislative districts by placing an Independent Commission in charge of the process; and placing a bi-partisan Board of Supervisors in charge of Ohio's elections instead of a partisan official. [...] "These amendments allow Ohioans to be more active in and have ownership of their own electoral system", said RON Campaign Director Ed Jerse "It will also help restore faith, trust and confidence in the process that is now riddled with corruption."

Had these reformed been in place in 2004 Bush would be living back in Texas where he belongs. And if they were in place in Florida in 2000, President Gore would have just announced two very different Supreme Court nominees (Bill Clinton? Mario Cuomo?) from the right-wing pig-in-a-polk Bush dumped on us.
