Midnight Meme Of The Day!

>

by Noah

It's almost painful to watch Trump at his midday coronavirus updates, especially when others step to the podium to answer questions and speak to the assembled reporters, often to correct the lies that have just come out of Trump's mouth. It's then that Trump bears even closer examination than when he speaks. His physical appearance is more freakish by the day. Except for the more and more pronounced white eye rings, his head sits there, precariously balanced on top of his shoulders like a rotting orange pumpkin. Just look at the flesh on his face getting more concave, more lumpy, dimpled and saggy each day as the interior rot withers and compresses. No thickness of orange pancake makeup can Spackle Trump's face smooth now.

The inner rot matches the character of the man. I watch him as a real human like Dr, Fauci steps to the podium to provide a much clearer and much more honest picture of the reality we are all facing but I see it all as a split screen. One side offers Dr. Fauci. The other side features a man who is still called the President Of The United States thanks to those who either voted or acted to keep him in office, apparently even knowing that this crisis was coming at us at full speed. I watch him. You can see the mental wandering and fragmented thinking. It's palpable. Trump looks as lost as anyone I've ever seen at a nursing home or, more appropriately in this case, a mental hospital. He stands there while someone else speaks looking like he's about to catch himself drooling, his eyes not darting but drifting with the look of a man who barely even knows where he is, a man who has almost no comprehension of what is being said and what is going on. This is far worse than Reagan at his worst in the last 3 years of his greatest acting role. And, it's because we tolerated Reagan's deterioration and ensuing ineptitude that something far worse has come along and come along at a time when it can be least acceptable, yet, no one says the words 25th Amendment and no one proposes invoking it. As I watch Trump, I hope that some orderlies will come and put a sheet over his head and a belt around his arms and cart him off, never to be seen again. Better yet, a plastic bag.

The other day, Trump was given the ultimate softball question by a corporate NBC reporter. It was Trump's moment to shine. It was a moment to provide leadership and reassurance for the entire country and the world. He is, supposedly, the leader of the free world after all. He was asked what does he say the so many Americans who are so afraid right now. A normal human being would have offered reassurance, compassion, or condolence, maybe even praise to the medical professionals who are daily heading right into the line of fire. Instead, he did what a psychopath does. He lashed out. Tonight's meme reflects the question he received and the unhinged response he gave. The quotes from him and the reporter are real. The woman on the right might as well be all of us. Trump couldn't even take advantage of a question that was made for him and teed up perfectly. He expressed what lies inside him. He is an angry, hate-filled psychotic embodiment of decades of republican policies and scare tactics.

This is no man for fireside chats.
