WHAT'S WORSE-- FOX NEWS BEING RABIDLY BIASED TOWARDS THE RIGHT OR CNN BEING RABIDLY BIASED TOWARDS IRRELEVANCE?

>

Two days ago at a barbershop-- which has since changed its TV viewing policy-- I experienced the extreme right wing propaganda of Fox News for the first time. I couldn't believe what they get away with.

Last night I switched on CNN to watch the debate and although it wasn't pornographic the way Fox is, it wasn't exactly fit for a mass audience. I mean where do they find such low-grade anchors and questioners? It must be difficult. I was relieved when they decided to have audience members ask the questions. And then I turned off the TV when one of the first questions was directed towards Hillary-- who is running for president (of the United States). "Do you prefer diamonds or pearls?" This is CNN, which is desperately trying to catch up to Fox in the ratings by appealing to people as stupid as Fox's audience. Like I said, I turned off the TV and went back to writing about the Republican hypocrisy of Bob Allen, Mitch McConnell, David Dreier, Larry Craig and the regular closet queen crew. It was almost refreshing.

But then a strange thing happened this morning. Maria Luisa, the UNLV student who asked the idiotic question wrote about the whole episode on her My Space page-- and she was as aghast as the rest of us were. She wanted to ask a pre-approved question about the Yucca Mountain nuclear waste repository and CNN made her ask the idiotic diamonds or pearls question. Mark Ambinder at The Atlantic has the whole sad story. Thank God for Keith Olbermann!

UPDATE: AND AS LONG AS WE'RE TALKING ABOUT CNN AND BIAS...

Markos put it well last night when he wondered aloud why CNN has Clinton hack James Carville on spinning the debate at the after-show for Hillary and identified him as a journalist instead of a Clinton hack. Is that fair?

I never realized quite how bad Blitzer was until I saw him in that debate. Jesus, what a load of crap.

And, of course, CNN just gave ultra-wingnut loon Glenn Beck $50 million (!!!!!) to continue being a shill for the Repugs. I guess having "news" readers like Rush's girlfriend, Daryn Kaygan (now gone) and Wolf Panzer just wasn't enough. Pathetic. How long before they have Tom Delay on full time?

Get as many people to make these phone calls.

Call GOP contributor and war contractor General Electric Corporation at 203 373 2211 and ask for the public relations department. Tell the person in public relations that you want the GE CEO to get Bush to end the war in Iraq and then Bush resign with Cheney and until that happens you will not buy any GE products and that you will tell your friends about this.

Call GOP contributor Rite Aid at 1-800-325-3737 and tell the person to get the CEO to get the GOP to enact HR 676 Single payer health care and repeal Medicare Part D and place the drug benefit in Medicare Part B covering 80% of drugs with no extra premiums, no extra deductibles, no means tests, no coverage gaps, and remove the means test for Medicare Part B and until that happens, you won't buy ANYTHING from Rite Aid.

Call GOP contributor Wendy's restaurants at 614 764-3553 and Tell the person in public relations that you want their CEO to get the GOP to help enact a $10/HR MIN. WAGE into law and until this happens you will not go to a Wendy's Restaurant.

I have started a new political party called the Liberal Democratic Party of the United States. You can read the web page at http://www.dmocrats.org and you will find that this party works differently from other political parties. Take a look and help enact progressive legislation and end the war where you work as a legislator and you vote on legislation.
