Freedom is not free
No, it isn’t, but most of the people saying this these days are Republicans who never served in the armed forces. And, they are not spending to increase security, and they are not investigating fraud by private contractors. So, Republicans must think that freedom is not free, but that no bid contracts and cronyism is where the money ought to go.
Real men like Bush
How many times did the male prostitute/reporter (yeah right) Jeff Gannon visit the White House? Well over 200 right?
And, let’s not forget these "real men" either. No marriage though, Bush is just dating. Nothing serious.

Shock and Awe
The bombing of Baghdad was referred to as the Shock and Awe campaign. The witless wonders who thought that up were all about the fireworks and not the reality on the ground. While dropping bombs on a city will kill innocents creating shock, the “Awe” part is a bit puzzling. Maybe this is why I hate the over used “awesome” that all the kids continually say today.
Awe is also a word that is associated with worship. Maybe that is what George the Lesser is after. Seems so. He is the decider afterall.
Cut and Run
When you got a Great White on the end of your pole, it would be pretty silly to stay the course. Or, when you see that you can either fight the Grizzly bear with your bare hands or you can get the hell out of its way, I say leave the area. Anyone telling you to stay the course is there for the show. It is not likely they care about you or the bear.

You missed the Angela Merkel shoulder rub. Of course, she is female, and so this is beyond your implied theme. It is only sexual harrassment, and perhaps should be mentioned in your "WHY DO REPUBLICANS AND OTHER RIGHT WING FANATICS HATE, FEAR AND OPPRESS WOMEN?" diary.
The thing about their military service? That's one of the things that really burns me up about these assholes. Almost none of them ever served. They're so quick to throw our soldiers at every problem in the world but none of them know what it means to wear the uniform.
I served. I was an aircraft electrician 423x0 in the United States Air Force. I was Basic Training Honor Graduate for my squadron.I also earned marksman on the firing range. I spent two years of my four year/two month enlistment stationed at Ramstien Air Base in Germany. While I was there my name was placed on a big boarg at USAFE headquarters that had the names of every American military and civilian listed. At the top or the board it said "Casualty List". If the Russians attaked(this was in 1981-82) they knew that everyone in Europe would be dead. They wanted to have the names for the records. Typical military efficiency.I was also fortunate to be a part of some very interesting and important TDYs while I was in. Always in the back of our minds,though, was the awareness that we could be called up to go to dangerous places on very short notice and sometimes we were.
Try living under that life every day and then come and tell me that we face a real threat.
re: "Shock and Awe". It is definitely with a purpose. See "shakinah". This has very ancient connotations. You might also reference the pres.'s mention in the second inauguration speech of the "... angel in the whirlwind..."
