The Mormon Cult Isn't The Only One Abusing Young Girls And Women

The Mormons are worried that their homophobic jihad in California has brought them and their bizarre practices a great deal of unwanted public scrutiny. But the chief Mormon, a vicious, hateful octogenarian bigot named Thomas Monson said it doesn't matter because his goal in financing the anti-gay crusade the Mormons have been leading was to forge an alliance with other extreme right wing religious extremists, many of whom have been preaching against the Mormon cult for decades.

But not all religious extremists and fanatics are opposed to cults or Mormonism. One so-called "Christian leader," who goes by the name Tony Alamo, is sitting in prison now for raping young girls and practicing polygamy. He's not a Mormon. He just plays one at work.

Alamo, like so many fanatic religionist charlatans who use "religion" to steal from the imbeciles in their flocks, is a small time hoodlum whose miserable life has been spent in and out of jail, in and out-- but mostly in--of scams and in and out of marriages, lots of them. He operates a cult center in rural Arkansas, although he's back in prison now and not operating anything. He's been raping young girls, very, very young girls. Two have been testifying that he married them; one is 9 and one is 11.

Alamo, 74, who heads Tony Alamo Christian Ministries, has pleaded not guilty to 10 federal counts that accuse him of violating the Mann Act, a federal law that bans carrying women or girls across state lines for "prostitution or debauchery, or for any other immoral purpose." The minister has maintained that "consent is puberty" when it involves sex with young girls.

Thirty-two juveniles associated with Alamo have been taken into protective custody since a Sept. 20 raid on his compound in Fouke. Alamo was arrested in Arizona five days after the raid.

Before the raid, FBI agent M. Randall Harris filed an affidavit describing information he said he received in interviews with three girls who had lived at the compound and from a confidential informant.

One girl, now 17, said Alamo molested her when she was 8 and she and the minister "exchanged wedding vows" May 17, 2000, when she was 9.

She said Alamo told her he was "trying to not make her a virgin any longer," the affidavit said. Alamo raped the girl then told her to "clean herself up," according to the document.

The girl also said Alamo took pictures of her naked and she saw similar photos of other girls that Alamo had taken. She said he made her watch pornographic movies in his bedroom to show her how to perform oral sex, the affidavit said.

...A confidential informant said she saw Alamo go into his bedroom with young girls and heard him tell them that he had candy bars in his room. The informant said Alamo also kept a Barbie doll collection and at least nine computers in his house.

Violently anti-Catholic, Alamo, who was born Bernie Hoffman and has used a string of fake names of the years, has been in and out of prison for income tax fraud and has the same attitude many who claim to serve God do about other people's children. Like the Mormons, he goes insane when anyone refers to his fake religion as a cult.
