The Smart Thing Or The Right Thing?

>

Bipartisanship by Nancy Ohanian

Once again the Powers That Be in the Democratic Party advise doing the smart thing-- be cautious-- this time on impeachment. How many times in my 48 years as a member of the party FDR built have I heard that we have to be smart? In five minutes I came up with over 50. Here are five.
We can compromise on this Supreme Court nominee, we’ll catch up next time we have the presidency.
The DNC consultants and their algorithms are exactly what we need to win.
Trump is a pushover, Hilary will bury him; Why worry about Rust Belt states, they’re in the bag!
Hey, that 50 State Strategy, it’s too hard and a waste of effort, let’s just focus on key swing states.
Let’s vote unlimited war powers without end to Bush/Cheney… what could go wrong?
As the Brits say Democrats are “too clever by half.” Beltway Dems play the “safe” bet, the “smart” bet. That’s why voters see them as weak. No one ever accused Republicans of playing it safe. Whatever you may think of their beliefs, they have prosecuted them with fervor. How’d that work out over the last 35 years?

Democrats always think they’re smarter than Republicans. Three decades of results would suggest a radically different conclusion. Who controls the Supreme Court, who redistricted who out of Congress and the state legislatures, who lost to a serial bankrupt adulterous sex offending clown? To quote Aaron Sorkin (as painful as that may be), “If liberals are so fucking smart, how come they lose so goddamn always?”

On to impeachment. The smart play is political. Beltway scuttlebutt says: Game the implications. Impeachment riles up the Republican base. Failure to convict in the Senate gives Trump an electoral advantage. It distracts from Democratic policy messaging. These are certainly possible outcomes. Other possibilities include burying Trump in an avalanche of testimony, exposing grotesque illegal and unconstitutional behavior, driving his re-elect score even lower. The hearings demoralize the Republican base, suppressing turnout in critical Senate and state elections. Hearings just might guarantee a landslide. To hell with the Clinton example, who remembers Nixon? By ’75 you couldn’t find 5 people who admitted voting for a guy who got 520 electoral votes.

The right play is impeachment hearings. You can’t call Trump a criminal and unfit for office and be too chicken shit to start the process (Nancy!). Hearings demonstrate strength, commitment to good government, the courage to do the right thing even when it may be risky, and belief in the history and promise of our Constitutional form of government. Americans respect courage and principle.

The right thing is the smart thing. Impeachment hearings now. Anything less is craven, small minded bullshit. And bad politics.

sheepdoggery.

the "smart" thing is always what might be best for the party. caution (cowardice), cold calculations (cynicism) and ALWAYS indifference to both long and short-term effects on everyone BUT the party.

The democraps' "smart" thing is immoral. it's misanthropic. it's anticonstitutional. and it's pure evil. smart? the opposite of smart.

The "right" thing? yes. impeachment. should have already been done. the constitution demands that if the motherfucking voters elect a pure evil criminal (and put evil criminals on the supreme court), he NEEDS to be removed. You cannot prognosticate what those evil Nazis in the senate will or won't do. you have to do YOUR job.

If the senate refuses to remove the evil criminal because he's of their tribe, so be it. the nation won't be less because you did the right thing. It just may not be better. And that is not your concern.

The fact that your inaction made the nation WORSE *IS* your concern, as well as your fucking fault. ONLY your fault, ms. Pelosi!

When, not if, all democratic structures are eliminated, Pelosi will be the proximate cause.

evil can flourish when good people do nothing, but it can also flourish when evil motherfuckers refuse to do anything to impede evil.

Sheepdogging only works if the lead dog can run.

Biden got shivved tonight, so the corporatists took a big hit. Mayor Pete got hurt badly over his apparent lack of control over the South Bend Police Department. Neither one will make it to the nomination now, for Trump would eat them both alive.

The next sheepdog is Kamala Harris, who has yet to have to answer for her letting Steve Mnuchin off the hook (and accepting contributions once she did so).

The democraptic Party has no lead candidate at the moment. We now see who rises to the challenge.

actually sheepdogs only need sheep that always follow. that's the beauty of it. In America, the left is so goddamn stupid and lazy that they'll follow who and when told to follow.

biden isn't dead yet. The way it's rigged in the DNC, he's the guy until HE decides to bail. I haven't seen polling yet, but I expect biden to still lead though maybe he'll drop a few points that will be picked up by beto and Inslee and maybe a couple others. DWT's fave, Williamson, wackadoo'd herself. she is toast.

The convention will take a first ballot with nobody getting nom'd. The second and all subsequent ballots will feature a quorum of "super" delegates who will have been pre-pledged to biden. biden will be nom'd. And most of the democrap sheep will vote as they are told.

10 million or more may not, though. trump will win. the Nazis will retake the house and they'll get to 60 in the senate.

all because of Pelosi (,scummer, reid, hoyer, aoc...), biden (,obamanation, Clinton...), voting fraud, corruption of the party that voters could have fixed any time since Reagan (that's the line of demarcation, not a statement of fandom, idiots) but have refused.

I think it's all agreed that far more americans support progressive issues than don't. Yet they somehow never ELECT anyone to implement those issues. Instead, they elect (or nominate to rum) democraps. I guess they must not really care... or are colossally stupid.

of course it could be both.

They needed to keep Warren afloat in the first one, and allow everyone to correct Beto. But the gun confiscation question was pretty damn obvious? Harris was let loose on Biden, since he's simply a place marker (just in case Bernie does well, despite... well, look at last time). With Warren attracting BernieBros™ and Tulsi ascribed to Fox. Biden will unleash the superdelegates at the convention and they'll chose the 2020 losers (Harris & Beto?)
