Who Are The Republicans Selling Our Country To?

So many ads... where are they all coming from? Or, more to the point, where is the money coming from-- the tens of millions of dollars-- that is needed to churn them out and put them on the air. Not everyone has the kind of money Meg Whitman and Carly Fiorina managed to get their paws on. So Republicans have been turning, more and more, to... China, India, Russia, Bahrain... all kinds of unsavory countries with agendas that include the accelerated de-industrialization of the United States. Oh, yeah... and lots of multimillionaires and billionaires and their corporations with selfish agendas of their own. In other words-- not exactly the most public-spirited of folks who have your interests and your family's interests on the top of their priority list-- not even in the middle of their priority list. Just since August, over 60,000 ads...

The big foreign money is flooding in via the Chamber of Commerce, which has run over 13,000 ads. Every single one of them has gone exclusively to conservatives, all Republicans plus 5 reactionary Blue Dogs-- Bobby Bright (AL), Frank Kratovil (MD), Glenn Nye (VA), Travis Childers (MS), and Jim Marshall (GA)-- who almost always vote with Republicans on policy matters. Worse is the special interest money that has funded the 17,360 patently false ads by Karl Rove's shady, corporately-sponsored group, American Crossroads. The other worst offenders are Americans For Prosperity-- and that's the Koch Brothers' prosperity, not yours-- (with 9,630 ads), the anti-senior citizen attack operation calling themselves The 60 Plus Association (4,258 ads), which has been singling out champions of senior citizens to barrage with fraudulent advertising, Americans For Job Security (3,793), Club For Growth (2,598) and several other special interest aggregators of right-wing money. In all these right-wing propaganda outfits that would make Goebbels proud have dumped $52.7 million into ads between August 1 and October 1, all meant to wrest control of Congress away from leaders concerned with the issues that most impact ordinary families and replace them with their own puppets, including, of course, active agents of foreign powers, like John Boehner (R-OH), Ron Johnson (R-WI) and Mitch McConnell (R-KY), each of whom works to enhance China's economy at the expense of our own.

Yesterday ThinkProgress exposed a small slice of the illicit money Republicans are using from overseas sources. They've laid out almost a million dollars in illegal donations going to fund ads for Sharron Angle, Ron Johnson, Rand Paul, Pat Toomey, and for Republicans desperate to put Boehner in the Speakers Chair instead of Pelosi. And this is barely the tip of the iceberg. China, Korea, India, Egypt... they all want to steal American jobs and market share and Boehner and his cronies have been delighted to help them every step of the way.

Meanwhile Biden turned up the heat on the Republican Party for using its front groups to take so much money from foreign powers.

"It bothers me, all these unattributed contributions," he told Democratic campaign workers outside Scranton. "Where is all this money from?"

The groups, including a pair launched by former Bush administration political operatives Karl Rove and Ed Gillespie, are spending tens of millions of dollars to help GOP candidates this year. They operate under recently liberalized rules that allow them to raise unlimited amounts of money from individuals and corporations.

"Karl Rove has gone out, because there's no longer a requirement to disclose who contributes to you, and gathered up tens of millions of dollars. We don't know if they're coming from foreign sources. We have a pretty good idea where a lot of it's coming from: very conservative millionaires," said Biden, who appeared Monday at fundraisers for a trio of endangered House Democrats.

He continued: "I challenge Karl Rove to tell me that this money isn't coming from billionaires and millionaires, insurance companies, oil companies, major executives" who have little in common with most voters.

Robber baron David Koch, probably the worst criminal in America today-- if not in American history-- has always lied and claimed he didn't finance the tea party. This video clearly puts the lie to that. He's financing both the tea party and its adjunct, the Republican Party. It wouldn't surprise me one bit to find out he's funding the Blue Dogs as well.
