GAY AMERICANS SCORED IN MAINE AND... WELL TEXAS HASN'T PUT UP CONCENTRATION CAMPS... YET

>

Outside of their respective states, the anti-gay ballot initiatives in Maine and Texas didn't get much coverage. Today we find out that gay Americans batted 500 at the voting booths. The proposal to overturn Maine's anti-discrimination law was beaten back and, predictably Texas passed the bigoted, hate-inspired constitutional amendment aimed at singling out a whole group of people and discriminating against them.

Ten years ago I was working at Warner Bros and the people from Maine Won't Discriminate approached me about helping them with a very similar campaign. I put together a cassette which we donated to the organization for them to sell at rallies. Afterwards they told me that the money they raised helped them put on some TV spots the last weekend which helped win them the tight race. Yesterday's battle was an attempt by the same backward hate-mongers to overturn the progress of that vote. The satanic forces though were beaten back by the forces of Light 55/45. Question 1 was very straight-forward: "Do you want to reject the new law that would protect people from discrimination in employment, housing, education, public accommodations and credit based on their sexual orientation?" With nearly 90% of the votes counted, Mainers voted 200,238 to keep the law and 164,064 to overturn it. The Forces of Darkness are already at work looking to spread their bile another day. In Texas you don't have to work too hard to spread any bile. The state is overflowing with it, most of the "churches" firmly in the hands of Satan and preaching nothing but hatred and bigotry and every kind of anti-Jesus dogma they can dig up. Only 24% of Texans opposed the vicious proposal (aggressively supported by the KKK, Governor Perry and other neo-fascist politicians across the benighted state).
